Hello! I am new to these forums- I've been reading for years but just decided it was time to join. I am a 27 year old mother of 2 healthy boys, ages 4 and 6 years old. I am also 5 weeks pregnant with #3.
I have had Lyme for 8 years (possibly longer) but was diagnosed 4 years ago during my 2nd pregnancy. My supposedly LLMD advised no treatment since I was feeling well, and up to this point I have tried all alternative treatments because I was nursing. I am about 75% of my old self, but still have crushing fatigue and dizziness, good days and bad, but overall I hold my own.
What brings me here today is that I am horribly sick since becoming pregnant. With both previous pregnancies, my symptoms went away and I felt great for most of the time. Postpartum has also not been a problem for me. I am trying to figure out why I feel so horrific right now.
I saw my new LLMD immediately after I found out I was pregnant, and she put me on amoxicillin 500mg 3x daily, to increase to 1 gram if tolerated. I have not started it yet (just got script yesterday). My question is, could this help me feel better during the pregnancy as well as protecting the baby? I would do anything to feel better right now, I've got two active boys to take care of and right now I'm on the couch 24/7.
As a side note, I went through both previous pregnancies with no complications, also I breastfed each of my boys for 2-4 years, and both are normal & healthy and have tested negative as of last year for Lyme and all co-infections. This is encouraging, but ignorance was bliss because I just didn't know I had Lyme until it was too late.
And even then I was told to go ahead and breastfeed, which I now feel very strongly is best, so I am confused what to do with this new baby.
Anyone else who has not started abx until pregnancy? What can I expect? Could the toxins from herxing affect my developing baby? What can I do to feel better? I am so weak, shaky, dizzy, and lightheaded all the time.
Thanks!
Jessica
