I am 6 weeks pregannt and experiencing a myriad of new and unusual symptoms.

I don't know if they are related to Lyme or not, but my LLMD seems to think that pregnancy hormones have triggered or exacerbated adrenal fatigue.

Here are the symptoms I am having, and only upon standing and/or moving around:

Faintness
Rapid heart rate
Weakness
Dizziness
Irritability

If I don't sit down right away, I just feel like I am going to die. It's awful and I've spent the last week in bed- and I was pretty healthy before I got pregnant- this was a sudden and drastic change so I am just trying to figure out what triggered it.

The doctor gave me an adrenal support supplement, so I will begin taking that and see if it helps, but I mainly just wanted to know what symptoms this would cause. Thanks!

HI there! I have it and I can't even tell you what the symptoms are!! Mine was found during Lyme treatment and I've been on Cortef ever since.

Why don't you post this in Medical Questions where more people will see it. I think you'll get the answers you need!

Being on something natural for it is a good beginning.

Perhaps you should be evaluated by an endocrinologist.

I felt that way while being pregnant (with the added symptom of being short of breath) and I ended up being very anemic. Has your Dr. checked for anemia?

That's interesting songbird- I am very short of breath too! There are so many things going on at once in my body, it's difficult to describe them all. I had the basic panel done with my initial bloodwork, but iron levels were good. I want her to do more at my visit next week though- maybe check ferratin levels?

Also- were your symptoms just from the anemia, or were they lyme related? Did they get better with iron? Did you receive abx treatment for Lyme while pregnant? Just curious!

The symptoms you list are certainly on that adrenal fatigue list.

Amazon has many books on the topic of "adrenal fatigue" and you can look inside many of them and read reviews. I just got from the library: Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome by James L. Wilson, N.D. Very interesting.

I learned that even better than sitting down when "required" from fatigue, LYING down is more restful to our adrenals.

If you decide to an endocrinologist, it is best if they are lyme literate. Perhaps your LLMD (or one close to you) can recommend one.

You might also want to see Wilson's book on this first - it will explain the supplements your LLMD gave you and also shows the best schedule for adrenal repair (i.e. in bed and asleep by 11 pm and stay in bed until 9 am) . . . .

My symptoms/anemia was pregnancy related only, was not on any meds. Your symptoms are identical to what I had.

I took the faintness one step further and actually passed out in the hairdressers chair.
I woke up to EMTs walking in, was brought to the hospital with half a haircut.

What sight! LOL
