Hey gang,
quick question...doing the yeast free diet and so far so good. I'm just curious how little things affect the overall..example..wife made fajitas tonight. I skipped the tortilla and i was fine with that. But the sauce had some sugar in it...that was the only sugar all day. Any thoughts? do things like that set me back big time or only in a small way?

i tried to offset by taking some extra Grapefruit Seed Extract.

I think you are doing fine if that's the only "error." They put sugar in stupid things, don't they!?

If you can stick to it really well for about 3 wks you will have mastered a lot and it will get easier after that. Your carb and sugar cravings will go way down.

Dave, I do my best to keep the sugar intake as low as possible, but I will admit I don't omit it all together.

For example, there is a Chinese marinade I like to use on chicken and fish and it has sugar in it, but I just love it.

I've found that if I keep it low and take my probiotics regularly, the yeast was kept in check.

thanks Jenny...sounds like i'm okay ..so far those are the only things i've seen as an issue.

i'm not 100% sure i have a yeast issue but i am having some really bad headaches and yeast could be the cause so i'm giving this a shot.

Dave

ps..i did fail the spit test for what its worth

Either way, Dave, you will feel better in a few days or weeks.

Once your body adjusts to not having that sugar high, you will feel better.

The candida doc I saw way back when said it was ok to have little cheats from time to time as long as it didn't throw you off the diet.

Thanks for this thread. Ain't it funny how you never know who else you will help?

I am currently trying to go sugar free, as I am having serious systemic yeast issues.

Glad to know I am not alone.

Hey, if you like soda, there is a product called "Zevia" that is sugar free, and artificial sweetner free too. Sweetened with the Stevia plant. My favorite is the Black Cherry.

Also keep in mind, if you ever do have a tiny bit of sugar in something, just be sure there is also some fat in there to off-set the sugar.

That is what I try to do. You just don't want to have sugar on an empty stomach.
