They are flooding our representations with their typical B.S. since updating guidelines isn't important to them. Maybe the new guidelines will have less misinformation, so maybe that's why they want to send these letters out quickly!

"The premise for prolonged antibiotic therapy for Lyme disease is the NOTION (my caps) that some
spirochetes can persist despite conventional treatment courses....."

A notion?

That terminology insults research done by outstanding scientists. Where does IDSA get that notion? Certainly not from evidence, but hey, what does Johns Hopkins know....and what do S. Barthold know......and Miklossey.....and D. Volkman.........and the list goes on.

A notion? Since when are empirical results considered a "notion"?

How insulting.

Let me correct this statement:

"The premise for prolonged antibiotic therapy for Lyme disease is the notion that some spirochetes, including Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme Disease), can persist despite conventional treatment courses"

I think that's what they were trying to say. I'm sure it was a typo by them. [Wink]
