What measures have you taken to protect family and pets from ticks. Spring is coming and looking at options. I saw this product called Tick Tube...has anyone tried it. I did some research and it looks promising! Others have suggested to get a Guinea Hen...I live in a neighborhood fairly close to neighbors and think that might be a problem...although it could be beneficial for the entire neighborhood! lol
Any suggestions that you've tried and feel work pleasse let me know!

How does the tick tube work?

Tick tubes are tubes like the size of toilet paper rolls filled with cotton that has been treated w/ PERMETHRIN.
Mice are always looking for nesting materials so this tube filled with cotton is attracting to them. Mice use this cotton for nesting in their deep hidaway spots. The permethrin binds to the oils on the fur of the mouse...ticks that attempt to attach are killed, and ticks already attached are attracted to the Permethrin cotton and killed. Transforming the mice from tick Host to tick killer...Mice are unharmed!

they should help. the only thing that helps me after all these yrs is permethrin on my shoes and the dog-but a little goes a long way. if its on i don't ever see ticks. when its worn off-4-6 weeks...there are swarms of them...(nightmare huh? a swarm of ticks...)

I tried tick tubes unsuccessfully. The problem is you have to think like a rodent. If they are not properly placed they don't work.

Guinea hens, on the other hand, search out the ticks and they love to eat!

Also, I spray beneficial nematodes (parasites to ticks and other garden pests) and they work well. I ordered mine from arbico organics.

There's also a good book on yard protection from ticks with good tips called something like Ticked Off.
