Hi,

I have a friend that needs to see my LLMD. She had a known tick bite 6 months ago and can't get a DR to treat her.

She is widowed and raising three young boys on her own. She is getting sicker and sicker and I'm afraid she may not be able to work much longer.

I will be contacting my LLMD to see if they have any payment options for her but at this time, she can't afford to see him.

Does anyone have any ideas on things we can do to help her?

thank you

There is something called Partnership for Prescription Assistance to help with the cost of prescriptions. People need to apply for it. It is at:

Check with local churches. They may be willing to write a check directly to the doctor to cover his charges.

You will need to educate the church on the need to see this particular doctor and the high cost of the first appt. when lyme disease is involved.

Contact a church that is known for doing things for the community.

By explaining lyme disease to my church, they have been willing to help a few people with that first appointment fee.

Also, once she sees the doc, she needs to tell him to only prescribe meds that she can afford. I had a friend who did it that way and the doc was willing to prescribe meds with cost in mind.

There's a Dr Y in CA who will treat even if you have no money. Do you have her contact info?

(PS.. I thought this thread was about raising $$$ FOR an LLMD himself/herself... you might get more responses with a better title)

maybe.. "Need help for friend who can't afford an LLMD"
