my husband's 45th high school reunion is coming up on mary 31. i AM NOT going, no way.

the first one i went to, they all ignored me and kept asking "where's sue?" his first wife. i mean i could have been invisible.

i swore i would never go back.

well i've gained a ton of weight, i'm now at 195 and i'm 5 feet tall (wider than i am tall actually). i'm sooo embarrassed about my weight.

he wants to go and said "hey, look we're all old, don't let that bother you." well it does and i'm NOT going..

i just can't, i mean it. i seldom go out because i hate the way i look.

plus it's in my home town where mom died and i'm going to be staying with my one sister. he's staying with his son.

since he ignores me when he's with his son and family, i feel really unwanted so i said "uh, no, i'll go stay with my sister."

does lyme keep you from social things? would YOU go to the class reunion? where everybody is saying "oh what your degree in? what do you do?"

i hate these things....

plus all the stress of being unhappy.

help....

You have to do what feels right for you. No need to put yourself under more stress. If you are ignored, then you can't be missed not being there.

In this situation, I definitely wouldn't go! I would let him go by himself though and stay home and watch a good movie.

There is no point doing things that would result in more unhappiness- you have enough of that with lyme.

Also, please don't beat yourself up over your weight. Maybe you should get out a little more, just not in this type of situation. Staying at home all the time because of your weight is probably not helping you in the long run (if you can go out that is).

I know I tend to get a little depressed when I stay at home a lot and then I make myself go out and it helps.

Feeling sick generally keeps me from doing social things. When I want to do something bad enough I try to ignore my symptoms and push through enough to have some fun with friends/family.

In your situation, I would not want to go to his reunion. Maybe I would go if he really begged. But you don't know his old friends and they don't seem to care about you so...

If you are coming to the Dayton area and would like an excuse not to go to the reunion you can PM me. We could grab some dinner or something. It would be fun to meet you [Smile]

Whatever you decide to do, try not to stress about it. You deserve happiness too.

Nope

I don't get out much and night time is out for sure but if my Wife wants to go I'm fine with that. [Smile]

Maybe you should just go and visit with your sister and skip the reunion.

I do go to some social gatherings, but not much. Depends on how I feel. I missed my nieces wedding because I was just too sick.

I did go to my husbands work Christmas party. I knew most of his co workers so it went okay. Nothing is as much fun when you are ill though.

I know how you feel about the weight issue. I struggle all the time with mine.

I do feel much better being gluten/sugar free. I am eating mostly raw and I've lost 10 pounds.

I feel worse when I stay cooped up at home.

I would go and have a good time with my sister and let the hubby do his thing.

Im with sutherngrl... visit with your sister and skip the reunion if you dont want to go. Its not your reunion and why go where you dont want to or dont feel comfortable.

Lifes too darn short.

As for social life--ha unfortuantly I've been way too sick this last year... Im hoping with spring coming I'll feel better and can get out some--I LOVE the outdoors (stupid ticks!!!!)

I guess whats been the saddest is I JUST CAN NOT make any plans...as I never know what kind of day Im gonna have ...some are ok and others are TERRIBLE (ie: cant move spliting headache etc) we've all been there.

There have been numerous things I've wanted to do--can NEVER pay money for tickets in advance and it seems like everytime something comes around play, concert, festivals, friends eating out....Im just not up to it.

I think the saddest thing yet is I have a very dear co-worker that just got deployed to Afg. and the area community was having them a send off...I wanted to go SOOOOOO bad but the day of event was one of the worst days yet. I felt terrible not being able to go..he knows how sick I've been but still...hes going over there and putting his life on the line and I couldn't even get my butt out of bed ):

When I do have something planned (ie LLMD appt) I get so nervous I start worring about it days in advance...

all this from a gal that used to do any and everything alone if need be..ie: go to concerts, shows, out to eat...heck if I had a few days off and got a "wild" hair I'd make the 4 hr trip one way to the beach to spend the day...ahh, alas the good ole days (:

LOL--it just hit me after I typed this...now I travel 4 1/2 hrs one way in the opposite direction to see my LLMD ---is that irony or what????

And my mon says...ya shoulda stayed out of the woods--(Camping) lol oh well.

Take care and I pray you're having a GOOD day.

Karen (:

P.S.
Oh yeah, back to the point....as I said

I vote....SKIP THE REUNION (:
