"Our laboratory wondered whether ticks could transmit Bartonella species. Currently, the answers appear to be yes and maybe.7 Good case-based evidence exists in the human and veterinary medical literature that suggests ticks may transmit Bartonella species. And in many laboratories around the world, PCR testing reveals Bartonella species DNA in ticks, particularly in Ixodes species ticks. Researchers in France have nearly demonstrated Ixodes ricinus transmission of Bartonella henselae.8 Interestingly, Bartonella henselae is prevalent in I. ricinus ticks in southern Germany and in France.9 However, although tick transmission of Bartonella species is possible, it hasn't yet been definitively proven for ticks in North America. Hey Kitty!
Looks like it's you & me again! Thanks for sharing, as always. what a goldmine of information....Dr. Breitschwedrt is unravelling many mysteries.
FYI, My doc here in FL. is sending blood to Duke Univ. and states that when the results are returned they read 'Galaxy Diagnositics' as the lab source.

feelfit-
Yes, I thought this should be in medical, b/c it gets more traffic, but will anyone care anyway? lol
I love Dr. Breitschwerdt! He found a big part of my problems. He is awesome and doesn't stop!
Very cool that your doctor is sending there.
Did you have yours sent?

No, not yet. seeing him on the 25th and having blood sent then. I agree, this needs to be in medical....but!
It has been there before and there were few 'takers'. Too bad. such good work.

Great! Let me know how the testing goes, though I know it will take a while for results.

Thanks for posting this.
Wasn't a recent paper by Wormser et al. stating that Bartonella is not transmitted by ticks?
I just did a search, and the post about that can be found here:
