I am taking milk thistle, multi-vit, tumeric, biotin, magnesium, fish oil, and B-complex.

I am a 47-year-old female if that matters. Should I take Calcium (400mg in multi-vit).

I also need recommendations on quality brands that I could order from Vitacost.

I take calcium although I have heard from some that it is a no-no for Lyme, although I'm not sure I remember why. It may have something to do with lowering your magnesium levels or the like.

I take Coral Calcium, which is only 60% of my daily intake. I take it mainly because I am on 15-20mg of hydrocortisone a day for Addison's and I wish to maintain my bone density.

Hopefully others without this complication can chime in on whether or not to supplement with this.

Hi Jennie,
Yes, definitely take calcium! Women really need it to protect bones!
I take Caltrate with vitamin D and minerals.

Does your multi have much zinc? Good for immune support. Also you should probably take Vitamin C. I hadn't been taking it and one day it dawned on me that because of the yeast free, sugar free diet, I hadn't had orange juice or barely any fruit in a year!! So extra C is important.

Probiotics are a must too.

Take care!

I was taking calcium when I started seeing new llmd...he had me stop it. He said that we really get enough calcium from our diet and what we really need is Vitamin K to absorb the calcium.

So, no more calcium supplement...I take a boat load of others besides this but in regards to calcium I only take a multi-vitamin, Vitamin D3 and MK-7 (brand of vitamin k)

Hope this helps.

even tho i'm only 60, i've been tested and have the bones of an 85 year old.

so yes, i'm on extra calcium. my doc said i must have 1200 per day.

and remember most adults don't drink milk which is a good source of calcium.

if you have any questions, please get the calcium test for osteo. non-invasive and doesn't cost all that much.
