Permanone (maybe sp is "Permenone" instead) is the ONLY thing I've found that actually KILLS ticks on contact. Active ingredient is permethrin. You spray it on your clothes, NOT your skin, which I like way better than Deet and others that are on one's skin, and let them dry (takes ~ 5min to dry totally).
