I just feel everything is so two faced. You fight to get the treatment because some don't believe. Then when it comes to something like getting life insurance suddenly it is a big deal again. I don't get it. I have been sympton free for 7 months now. I don't know if it will come back or if I will get re-bite again. But I didn't even think lymes was life threatening for the most part. I thought it was more of a pain in the you know what to deal with. Yes I realize some have it alot worse but seriously is this a reason for not giving life insurance?

I had a policy that was cancelled when they found out I had lyme disease before I started the policy. I had disclosed that in the interview process and the policy was approved.

A year and half later, policy was terminated because "it should have never been approved in the first place," they said. Apparently, there was a 2 year window before they could void it. I did get my money back, but now I cannot get any life insurance policy that counts for much at all without paying an arm and leg for the most basic - and who knows if they'd even honor that?

If you currently have a policy, hold on to it. It could be very hard to obtain after a diagnosis.

when i first had lyme, i went to a doctor and he said i was suicidal.

apparently he told the insurance company that when they contacted him.

end of insurance. i can't get it anymore.

when i contacted them they said i had cancelled it.

that's one big damn lie....

I have a friend who applied for health insurance. Her only preexisting condition was lyme disease and she was turned down for health insurance based on lyme diagnosis. She has chronic lyme disease and it is interesting how we can be turned down for life and health insurance when the IDSA does not believe in chronic lyme.
