I could be wrong... but I think this is not going to be fun.
My husband just left to go play piano all day at the college's premier restaurant. (open to the public)
The problem??
It's raining and is supposed to begin sleeting in another hour or two. May even snow. You should see the radar...not good. It will be freezing by 11 a.m.
I'm supposed to go up there at 3pm to eat with him. I think I'm going to be iced in.
and will he be able to make it home later???
AAARRRGGHH!!!

It's just raining here, but it's really cold. Way different than the 78* we had yesterday. At least it feels more like Thanksgiving. My DD and her family are on their way from Tulsa, where they're having a bit of freezing rain.

yeah...my plans got pretty carzy today too. lots of emotions at the holidays for everyone...and i'm raw cuz i relied on my dog for so long when stuff happened. guess i'm supposed to learn a new way to deal with this
a friend said...snap out of it and be thankful you woke up. so thats what i'm trying to do. and altho i'm not painfree i can walk. no kidney infect either

Someone told me it would be better to get iced in with friends than to stay at home and get iced in. So.. I'm getting dressed and hope to get up there before it freezes. It's 33 degrees right now with rain, and wintry mix is on the way.
I HATE THIS!

I had to wait 2+ hours to eat. I wasn't able to sit near the piano due to so many people being in there! Tons!
I had to sit and wait in the lounge/lobby area. Very nice and comfy. I read a book while waiting.
It began to sleet, then snow while I was waiting. It was really pretty. I was just praying the roads would be safe to drive home.. and they were.
Praise the Lord! The food was good and my husband enjoyed playing. Thank you, good Lord!
Even got pics of the ice sculptures. Cool.

I got lucky too because the windshield had a layer of sleet on it when I went out. It came right off with wipers on the driver's side. ( icy on the other part )

I was definitely praising God for this one! Never thought we'd have such an easy time driving home. Short distance but HILLY!
There were probably a thousand people there today. Hubby said they started serving at 9:30 a.m. and when we left at 4 pm they were still serving.
Huge fancy buffet. Nice atmosphere .. and free for us. Can't beat that!!
Plus my husband got pretty good tips and will get a check later!
Will be interesting to hear how many they served. Since it's part of the college my husband works for, he may be able to find out.

Lymetoo...Glad it went well for you. I was dreading the winter stuff after the tornado weather last night. I plan to go eat there one of these times...I hear it's ALWAYS good. We got moved to south Missouri but now we're about 2 1/2 hours to the east of you instead of 2 1/2 hours north of you. When I get that way to see my sister I'll let you know maybe we can meet...support is always good.

and believe me it gets COLD in TX! Try being in the Panhandle during winter! Even the Dallas area gets very cold and snowy in the winter. Abilene too.
About 6 yrs ago, it snowed 12 inches along the coastline of Texas! Now that was a shock! Hadn't happened in about 100 yrs!

I know one thing...I'm not ready for winter. I think it's going to break me this year.
The sun is out today, and is melting all the frost from last night. My dog was in the workshop with a heater on (she's old and the cold gets to her too) and my DH went to let her out. She stepped out, sniffed twice then turned and headed back in to where the heater was. She didn't even want to make the walk from the workshop to the house, lol.
I know how she feels.

Cold here too. 17 degrees this am with wind so dont' know what the wind chill factor was.
Cat..did the same as your dog Misfit...I opened the door to let her out for her usual morning romp...and she didn't even want to cross the threshold. She turned around and came back in the house.

I pay close attention to my cat...we had a small tornado come through here once and my cat hid well ahead of time. Couldn't find him anywhere. We finally found him underneath a bedside table that had THE smallest opening to get through. I still don't know how he got under there. I have a picture of his head just poking out after things were over, lol.
My cat has never been outside, but he seems to know when things are coming. If there is any weather change at all on its' way, he acts up a coupla days before. He's my new favorite meterologist, lol...

There's still ice/sleet on the steps going up to the apt next door. None on our steps (only have 3)...It's above freezing now, but those steps are in the shade.

SNOW????!!!!???? That's a four letter word around here. Girlfriend, as long as it's not another ice storm. I've seen them increasing the last 10 years. The 1st one after I moved to this area was THIRTEEN days without electricity. The 2nd was 7 days. I gotta tell you...I loves me the electricity! I'm a child of modern convenience, and I make no apologies for that.
But really, snow? I don't like snow. It's pretty and all, but other people are welcome to it. I lived in Michigan for 3 years and I saw enough snow to last me the rest of my life. Seriously. I'm going to have to watch the weather.
