Hi everyone,

Haven't posted in a long time, but everyone out there suffering from Lyme (especially chronic Lyme) is in my thoughts.

Thanks to you guys and your recommendations and information I was able to come a LONG way from the hot mess I was with this disease to where I am now.

After 13 years of misdiagnosis and incorrect treatments for things I did not have, I was able to find my LLMD, go through almost 2 years of abx now (as well as supplements and the Burrascano protocol) and actually have days of peace and wellness!

However, the cost to me and my family has been very high. I had gone into enormous debt for my Lyme-related care (no health insurance), had been unemployed and unemployable for nearly 2 years.

I was ecstatic when I finally landed a part time teaching job in July, less than happy when I had a car accident 2 weeks later, but I kept working.

I also was able to find a second job as a home care assistant. I finally was getting back on my feet.

However, in October, my auto loan company repo'd my car --- I could not catch up the payments in time. As a result, I had to give up my teaching job as well.

A week later I filed a bankruptcy.

So that's where I am now.

Without transportation, I cannot get to my LLMD (which actually with my reduced income I could not afford the visit anyway).

I am doing without certain supplements and reducing others. I am still on my daily amoxicillin, but that will run out in a few weeks.

The worst part. with the stress on top of all of this, I feel symptoms coming back, and am starting once again to have more bad days than good.

I dont know --- does anyone have any suggestions?

PM me if you can......

Peace to all,
Mari

on the plus side amoxi is very cheap if you need to stay on that for a while

You can recover financially when you recover your health.

Stay on abx. Find an inexpensive source. Take only necessary supplements.

Can you apply for Medicaid?

Would your doc help you apply for Disability?

I know you can figure this out. There are previous threads here about treating Lyme inexpensively.

I'm sorry you are going through this. So many of us live month-to-month, on the edge of financial disaster ourselves.

Please don't feel guilty about the repo or the bankruptcy. Your illness is not your fault, and you don't deserve any of this.

I'm glad you are doing better. Find a way to stay on abx!

I wrote up some things about financing hospital care in a blog at lymefriends, which might be helpful for some people to read:
