Ice everywhere. I lived in the mountains when I was well in the snow, but it wasn't Colorado or back east so it didn't usually get this cold.
A high of 18 and a low of 12? A bit too cold for me. I was going to try to get my daily exercise, but I couldn't find my ice hockey skates. Some kids were playing ice hockey in front of my house (for real). I played hockey, so I did think about going out and schooling the little kiddies. Kidding (sort of).
High is 27 tomorrow, and it's supposed to snow on Friday.
This is Texas!
You people back east may see this is normal, but I say enough is enough. It's been a couple days already and the ice isn't going anywhere.

And it's 72 today in NE Florida. Hubby was outside in his shorts and flip flops raking leaves all day...and sweating.
It's times like these I appreciate where I live. When it gets below 60, we all start whining and moaning about how cold it is.

I wish you guys could see my back yard. Snow untouched is almost up to ones chest deep. Edge of front walk from shoveling, way over your head. And today all got covered with thick sheet of ice! Tonite will snow again, with another snow storm to arrive on Saturday. Central MA

Beagle... That sounds awful!! I'm in Southern Missouri and it's bad here... but I'll count my blessings. I'm just glad to have electricity.

I actually really like this weather!! We don't see stuff like this very often.
I wish it would snow though to make being stuck at home a little more fun. We'll see if it really happens Friday.
I'm sure if we had it every day I'd feel differently!

I am going ice fishing tomorrow (if I feel good enuf),the ice is 8 inches thick on the local lake here.A old friend will let me use his ice shack if i ask.
I find I can usually fish if nothing else.
I can still see your grass.Wait till it is under a foot of snow or more.

There was about another 8 inches in front of my house (I don't exaggerate), and while it's warming up a bit, the streets in my community are still covered in snow.
Though cabin fever has set in. All we have is 2WD cars here, and I gave my 4WD car to my older sister since I am not driving. However, looking out the Window there are now some rear-wheel drive folks driving around without much trouble now. I don't trust my mom to drive me, because the only time she drove when I lived in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, she ran into a snowbank after I warned her like 5 times. Uhh, I think I'll stay home for now.
Rear-wheel drives are quite laughable in these conditions. Oh, and under that snow? Ice. But I think the snow and ice is finally melting off in some exposures.
Earlier there was someone being pulled down the street in a tube (meant for boat towing) and a snowboarder using a water ski line. No hills here in TX, but atleast people are figuring out how to use the snow I guess, but I had a feeling the guy in the Jeep pulling his kids had no idea what he was doing.
Now, unlike most Texans, I am used to snow. It's not that big of a deal to me, but you think they would at least plow, sand, or salt the streets around here. Last I heard, they ran out of everything.
This isn't supposed to happen. When winter weather comes in in Texas, it should all be gone by the next day. At least the temperature is a bit more tolerable, and resembles that of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
I had my friend drive me around yesterday in his AWD Jeep. Ha! He ignored my advice for the most part and ended up spinning a complete 180 down the street. It's quite laughable how much people suck at driving (coming from a person that doesn't drive). In fact, it's completely necessary that they shut down schools since:
a) they don't plow roads b) all the high school kids (and most parents) have no clue how to get around in snow
Maybe I should post a pic from the same perspective for the hell of it.

You're so right about everything you said. In TX you are paralyzed by the snow or ice because they have no trucks/snow plows... why would they?
My brother lives in Houston and is stuck in Galveston right now... no trucks there running around putting out ice melt..haha!
Are they going to be able to pull off the SuperBowl? Wouldn't that be a mess if they couldn't!? I heard they are canceling flights to Dallas like crazy.

oh... it was so funny on the You Tube clip about wrapping the pipes!! That's another thing those of us further north don't have to worry about. But in Houston and much of TX .. the pipes are a big problem.
My parents house in Houston (50's) was built with the water pipes in the CEILING.. houses are STILL built that way there!
It's a nightmare if they freeze! You better be home when there is a hard freeze!

It snowed once in 1963 in the SF bay area where I grew up - approx one inch got deposited on the lawn.
Everyone made one snowman on their otherwise all-green lawn and we drove around and looked at them!

We've had snow in Oklahoma, off and on, all week. In my area, close to 10"! Plus the temperatures have been close to zero! That's record breaking. Brrrrr.

Most of the roads still have snow and ice. It's a "jungle" out there.
Today, so far, the sun is out...woooohoooo!!!

I also think we've broke the record for (roof collapsing). I think it over 100 to date.

Obviously, I have nothing to complain about for the few inches of snow we got in OK compared to MA.
I watched that video and thought it was funny...then I was shocked to hear
42 trucks dumped snow for 3 hours into the River.
Illegal to dump snow as it's polluted with salt, sand, dirt, oil....YIKES...I never thought of that.
Wonder what's gonna happen to the guy and if that will really affect the River???
Well....I'm really looking forward to Spring and probably most of the country is too.

We got snow in my area too. It's the 2nd snowfall in 2 weeks....very unusual. Anyhow, here's my horse playing with the cows in the snow. It was cold, cold, cold!! At this link:
