Seem like all I hear about is what you can't eat. Okay, so somebody throw out some good positive input. Only list what you CAN eat on the Lyme diet.
Remember, no "no's"!!!!

Wow!!! Thanks Lymetoo!
Hey, what about peanuts and almonds?
And do you know how I could make chocolate candy with Stevia and organic cocoa?
Posted by arkiehinny (Member # 26546) on :
Is Ezekial bread acceptable...you know, make from sprouts?
Posted by momlyme (Member # 27775) on :
No peanuts or peanut butter... almond butter and sunflower butter and just about every other nut...or nut butter.
Something about peanuts causing swelling?
I do a lot of dips... with gluten free blue chips. guacamole, hummus, more hummus...
I do smoothies & eggnogs... mmmmm. getting good at these! I add all kinds of powder supplements to these so there are less pills to swallow. Stevia makes them taste sweet & my son loves most of them. What he won't drink, I drink!
Nuts and berries for snacks. I keep lots of variety around.

So this would include beans? Like garbanzo beans for the hummus.....? Black beans, I assume. Can someone give me a list of beans, please? Thanks!!
So tell me something sweet..like in fruits. Berries are great great great! Can make it into a dessert, guilt free.
Oh darn this would mean my fat free cottage cheese would spoil!
If everyone just adds a little, maybe I'll print it off and have my list of DO's!
Remember, don't use the word NO.

I do use beans... kidney, pinto, chick peas, split peas, black beans.
Granny smith apples.
I use blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and cranberries for sweet stuff... add stevia.
I make pecan/carrot muffins with stevia and rice flour... they are to die for! >PM me for the recipe.
I use Pamela's gluten free Baking and Pancake mix to make pancakes, crepes, carob chip cookies.
Udi's bread - french toast, buffalo chicken sandwich, toast...

Beans in moderation.
Yes to almonds, cashews (moderation) and pecans.
I do limited amounts of Udi's bread. No Ezekiel for me.. it contains gluten.

yes to granny smith apples .. that is the only fruit i'm using right now

I think it depends on the person and their LLMD's recommendations. Mine does not have any diet restrictions except the obvious like alcohol and sugar.
I eat fresh fruits and vegetables (all of them!) Protein:organic chicken, turkey, fish, beans, nuts, seeds, eggs Complex carbs: brown rice, barely, black rice, wild rice, quina, Fats: coconut oil, olive oil, flax, nuts, peanut or almond butter Other: sweet potatoes, apple cider vinegar, home made granola, black tea, green tea.
Sweetener: honey, maple syrup (very small amounts)
Rare Treats: berry pie, cobbler or crisp with very small amount of honey. Presently I am trying gluten free but I was using whole wheat pastry flour
Frozen yogurt (made from B2 casein proteins) with small amount of honey or maple syrup. Serve with thawed blueberries. I am avoiding dairy right now to see what happens but I do not think I am sensitive to this type of milk protein.
Dark chocolate candy made from unsweetened chocolate and honey with a lot of walnuts
Carrot bread (not cake) Oatmeal cookies with 1/4 the amount of sweetener called for- substituting honey, - and lots of seeds and nuts
These treats are not "sweet". They are good for you.
If I decide dairy is ok I will continue to eat cheese. I prefer organic goats milk or Jersey milk and yogurt.
I do not eat any sugar. I also do not eat red meat because it has so many toxins and stresses out the kidneys. I make most things from scratch and avoid processed refined foods with preservatives etc. NATURAL. I hope to go more and more vegetarian.
I am getting better and better. Right now I am about 85%. I believe my diet is a big part of it. When I eat meat I get toxic - body pain, clinched teeth, and smell from the release of toxins. When I eat too many sweets I get sicker from the infections. I have no pain now, not even any morning stiffness and I am 64 years old.
I need more stamina and better memory and more motivation. I feel so close to "there" but it is elusive.

Yes to the salmon and shrimp! Anchovies have an awful lot of salt.
Newbies.. Not all items listed in above posts are OK! Posted by tricia386 (Member # 29623) on :

I have sweet potatoes every once in a while. Not sure if they are OK or not.

In moderation .. like once a week or in small amounts more often than that.
red would be better than white..
even better than that is sweet potatoes, believe it or not!
Regular potatoes are a nightshade and cause pain for some people. (and yeast, of course)

There is a new book titled "The Lyme Diet: nutritional strategies for healing Lyme Disease". Written by Dr Nicola McFadzean. I read the book and listened to Dr McFadzean speak recently. I would highly recommend the book. You can order it from amazon.

Two items I gleaned from Dr. Nicola's book that have become staple items are: -plain kefir (I add stevia) -whey protein powder (Tera's Whey makes a yummy dark chocolate flavor)
For an occasional treat I'll make pizza with an Udi's gluten-free crust and sheep-milk feta.
A bite or two of no-sugar added dark chocolate can go a long way in satisfying a sweet tooth in a pinch.
Oh, not sure if I've seen lentils listed here.
