Ok, so I've had my share of health problems. Severe arthritis in my spine, necessitating two extensive surgeries, back pain, stiffness in fingers, and.......I'm afraid to admit.....odd cognitive issues, like difficulty spelling words. (I had always been a GREAT speller!) Also, trouble remembering things. I left the stove burners on twice recently, and also left the gas cap at the gas station twice recently.
I've always attributed these problems to stress. (Lord knows, I've had enough of that).
But since my son has been diagnosed with multiple TBD, it's time for me to get tested.
I'm going to my son's LL NP today at 3pm and getting blood drawn for IgeneX testing.
After that....what will be, will be.

I had the same ah ha realization as you. Only after my son was diagnosed with multiple infections.
After feeling as if I had been stabbed with the guilt knife for giving my child this horrible illness...
I realized that some gifts appear in strange packaging.
I have learned to live with my strange pains and illnesses. I would never have gotten treatment for myself if it were not for him getting sick.

I am in the same boat. I have a lot of the same symptoms as my daughter.
I keep putting off getting the testing done. I think it's just too much to think about right now.
I know it's gotta happen though.

I keep thinking, "if my tests are negative or equivocal, what will I do?"
I probably will not seek treatment for myself unless I have some laboratory evidence of infection---even a low CD57. Something.
I don't think of myself as 'sick'---just tired, stressed, maybe a little menopause thrown in, yanno?
Still waiting for results, though.

My boat sailed in the opposite direction.
My husband and I were diagnosed, then we had the children tested.
It is hard to be ill and care for other ill people.
By the Grace of God we go forward, one step at a time.

This is exactly what happened between my mom and I. I was diagnosed, then my sisters and I had to convince her to get tested. She has been sick since before she got pregnant with me.
She was in complete denial about maybe having it. She always just attributed her pain, memory issues, etc, to being overweight, stressed and getting older.
Well, guess what? She tested positive. But it has been amazing. She has had more GOOD days in the last 3 months of treating than she did I would say in the couple previous years!

ppl testing neg are often the sickest
your sx are classic lyme-the gas cap, stove burners...i remember so clearly
i used to keep an extra car key on my sneaker lace becasue i locked keys in the car so often
oh-and me too. i seeked traditional treatment for 10 yrs and was dx RA and fibro
then my 10 yo daugher got sick. i took her to the "wierd alternative doc " in town (wo is quite famous now)
he dx her and then i got tested and also was pos and began tx
