DS, is refusing anymore Bicillin shots. He has been without for five weeks. He is still on Doxy and Zithromax, but is starting to have intrusive thoughts again (separation anxiety, fear of dying, paranoia). Have called doctor's (LLMD) office twice asking for ideas or change of prescription and they have not called me back in six days.

What the heck do I do now?

Call them relentlessly. Bother the pants off them. Call when they open, interrupt their lunch, call before they close, leave messages.

Keep calling and don't give up until you get the information you need.

If anything happened to your son, how long would it take to forgive yourself for not "bothering" the doctor.

(And this advice is coming from someone who would rather suffer herself than be a pain to someone on the other end of the phone!)

You must have slipped through the cracks. Call every day .. even call on the receptionist line instead of the nurse's line.

First of all... I don't blame DS one bit for not wanting to take the shots.

If he doesn't want to take them and that is what works, what really is the doctor suppose to do about it?

And he is on other medications that I will assume the doc prescribed.

Bug them relentlessly? I don't know about that. I wouldn't. Not at all. I would make an appointment to discuss the situation.

Rule of thumb- if it is or becomes an emergency situation, go to the emergency room.

If not, contact the LLMD and give them time to get back to you.

The 6 days you've been waiting did include a 2-3 day weekend ... and Monday is the busiest day of the week.

You currently have help for DS, but push the office staff in a fashion that is unreasonable (in their eyes) and you both can suffer the consequences and end up with nothing.

I hope you get some answers soon and you both feel better.

If you don't receive a call by the next day, always call again.

I don't blame DS for not wanting more bicillin shots either!! [Eek!]

I don't blame him either. We discussed him not wanting the shots at our last visit-less than two weeks ago. She said she wants him to take more shots. Called on Friday, Tuesday and I will call again today. DS, had been diagnosed with PANDAS at one point, and the symptoms right now are exactly like those. He won't let me out of his sight, cries at school, cries at bed time for his dead Grandma, will not leave the house except for school. This is not life-this is prison and hell on earth for him and me. If you think I am exaggerating, then you have not experienced it.

Sorry, I misread "fear of dying" as suicidal thoughts.

That's why I reacted the way I did.

So you do not feel alone, I have been thru the separation anxiety, fear of dying, and paranoia with my daughter. It is a hell of sorts for sure.

The office called and faxed in a prescription for Augmentin XR. Relief is in sight...

That was a roller coaster read and then that surprise post by ryansmom...so glad the office finally called.

Yes, "relief is in sight" and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Just said a prayer. May he be calmed in body, mind, and spirit.

PS: Never give up hope. Hope is very powerful!
