I took my daughter in to see the pediatrician today.

RGHH [Mad]

My daughter has had a variety of symptoms that I wanted to check out... didn't want to be blind to... sore throats, reoccuring ear infections, tummy soreness, leg pains, dry hacking coughs, reoccuring illnesses every 8weeks this school year, irritability/rages.

I realized that it could just be her being a kid and her being sick..... (she is 5 years old).

I was told that unless she developed a rash AND had severe joint pain/swelling that she didn't have lyme.

And I was told that it WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO TRANSMIT LYME THRU PREGNANCY. [loco]

I didn't argue with the dr. I saw no use in it. I finished the appt as fast as possible and left. [Frown]

I hate these kind of appointments. Some doctors are just ignorant. Put it behind you and find a good pediatric LLMD.

Well I guess having an Igenex test wouldn't hurt and might ease some of your concerns if it comes up with no band readings.

The downside is having your daughter give the blood. On blood draw days my daughter is not a happy camper and I can't blame her considering all the times she's had blood testing.

So frustrating!

When doctors say ignorant stuff like that, your level of trust in them for other things takes a nosedive.

I would've asked him to explain how it's not possible...just for giggles...to watch him try to pull an explanation out of his rear end.

The reality is that I don't know whether to make it an issue or not. Obviously not going to make it an issue with that dr. I'm just beginning my treatment... and having enough problems coping.

But, I don't really want to turn a blind eye on the possibility of her having lyme, but also don't want drastic measures to prove that she might or might not...

I wasn't sure if I should have even taken her in to the dr in the first place.... but her dr's opinion really made me mad, and made me doubt her opinion in other areas. (hambone you hit it on the mark!)

The doctor is a toad... blah blah blah.

Then I guess he also thinks ALL ADULTS have to have a rash and joint pain in order to have Lyme? How stupid.

I was soo frustrated at their stupidity when I left the office!

It left me questioning all the rest of her medical advise as well...

I can tell you that you can pass it on,,,I had twins and I had a positive test for lyme within a year of their birth...they were 2 months premature but also was very sick for the first 3 to 5 years of their life,,,,they are 14 years old now and the one twins is always sick like your daugter soon as he is off antibiotics for somesort of infection he is good for a little while then sick again,,,every summer for 5 years I took him in everysummer for lyme test and 5 years later he finally got a positive result,so even if it is neg,,,you still have it,,my son is very irritable and mean,,,,I try to be positive cause I no it is coming from not feeling good all the time...do not give up do not accept the answers you are getting,,,a mother truly does have a natural instinct and with me I new and finally got the truth,,,but have noone to treat him,,so I take hime to the doctor and the medexpress to get treatment,,,can not get into a doc for children llmd.. good luck to you if you need anything pm me and will be glad to help..god bless you and your daughter..

Thanks for your support. Once I get into an LLMD that I trust then I will discuss it with him. My LLMD isn't that great.... Looking at changing soon.

Thanks for everyone's support and information... the link that was provided for lyme in kids... had more symptoms that present in kids... which lead me to think even more that my son more than my daughter may need to be tested...

but, one thing at a time.

First, for me to get into a good LLMD and discuss with him.

I actually do answer back to any stand-down doctors these days - I let them know that their ideas are incorrect and offer the correct info. Then I go out and educate their staff. Sometimes I bring Lyme brochures to the appt. I think it is time for us to let them know we know.

I'm not a confrontational type of person. But, I was thinking of sending or dropping of the information to the office.
