I am having a hard time trying to figure out what to do with me, when I feel so bad.
I am so limited to what I can do and mostly housebound. There is so much TV, reading that one can do and I sit here looking at all that I could do if I felt up to it.
Caught in a trap is how I feel. There seems to be nothing that interest me and if so there is no energy to do. I would love to have a passion, hobby or something I can do. Can't even go out side because of the darn MCS.. Tried sitting on the patio and go so sick. Oh, I hate these lonely what to do with me days. I feel so useless.
Anyone else have this problem?
hugs

Video games!
Hydroponic indoor gardening?
You could raise chickens! (of course this requires going outside, unless you raise baby chicks indoors)
Kittens? A big ol' pile of kittens might even make you feel better!
I don't know. I have 3 kids so hobbies aren't something I have a lot of time for, LOL! You can probably tell I am rusty when it comes to hobbies!

Kittens are a good idea... but I would definitely start out with one because they can be a real handfull!
Do you have any pets? I think pets can be very important in a situation like yours. How about dogs?
Maybe you could try studying a subject that you've always been interested in but never looked into. With all of that time to read, you could be a pro in no time!
Also you might consider studying how to get yourself healthier, because not only is that a good hobby, but it could be extremely useful for yourself and others as well.

Virginia is some beautiful country.. can you draw or paint it , even simple water colors can work. mostly watching baseball... GO TIGERS. I don't know about cats, I would be worried of cat scratches.. ** james is a strong hold for us(: mostly sitting on my porch with sunglasses and lemon water, acting like i am normal. any distraction has helped me put lyme on the back burner.. merrygirl crafts..HUmmm? i always thought of pottery, and candle making. phyl, hope you find a comfort zone, and enjoy yourself soon, have a good 4th of july, God Bless

Phyll.. Call a friend?? Send greeting cards to shut-ins??
Maybe you need a Lyme friend you could phone and talk to!
A craft would be a good idea if you are able.

My problem is I can't focus! So I get very frustrated! Luckily I'm in So Cal so I just take the kids to the Club house and let them swim while I people watch!
When you have young kids they won't let you veg! I guess that's a good thing.

I tried to take the focus off of me and pray for others. It sounds very pious, don't fall for it. Often I would nod off mid prayer, forget who I was praying for, etc. But it did help and I believe, since God know our thoughts ahead of us, He knew my prayer requests. I still try and it happens, oh well.
I taped fun programs and watched them, tried not to get further down watching sad stuff.

Phyl - just curious - were you born with Lyme or did you acquire it later in life? If the latter, you might reflect on whatever your early interests were, and then how you might revive them in a modified form.
It's so much better when we can take our attention off of the discomforting experience and put it on something more enjoyable.
Sometimes that means focusing on something besides ourself, to literally get the attention off ourself and onto something or someone else.
Also, don't know if this would help at all - the idea of looking into antidepressants? Like I tried a homeopathic remedy, called pulsatilla 12x, and got high! Very strange feeling - I wasn't used to feeling happy!

Tks. everyone for all your suggestions and replies.
Robin 123, Don't think I was born with lyme but have had symptoms for 25 years the last 3 have been the worst. I have tried antidepressants but couldn't take the side effects never heard of Pulsatilla will research it. tks.
Can't do animals right now, my baby of 13 years died a couple yrs ago. Allergic to cats.
I know there are things I should be able to concentrate on but lately I have felt so bad I couldn't get out of bed and yes then the depression sets in.
Husband is not being very understanding after all these years he still doesn't get it so problems there.
I have been wanting to get all my photos in albums and do some framing so when I can get the supplies think I will start there.
Would love to be out in the beautiful weather but the MCS keeps me inside.
Feeling not so depressed today. Went out for a short morning walk, first time in a week I have been out.
Tks. it means so much to come here and vent.
hugs.

Carol in Pa, Yes I do have some depression but only when I have to stay in so much and feel so bad. I do get horrible moods and feel so hopeless..But on my good days I am not this way. Tried AD's but couldn't handle the side effects.
My trap I am caught in is trying to live the life I lived before lyme which my husband expects. Last night its like a light bulb went off in my head which said for now you are not well and can't be wonder woman so stop trying to please everyone, doing for everyone, start taking care of you and do something for you and not feel guilty for doing so.. A new goal for now.

I hope you enjoyed your short morning walk!
I find that sometimes when I get in a funk, it helps to try and focus on the things I have to be thankful for. It is so easy for us to dwell on the negative!
Maybe you can start journaling? Or doing some exercises in cognitive behavioral therapy while doing the journaling? There are some good self help websites out there.
If you feel up to it, you can even start an online blog. Don't know how hard that would be though.
I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Tks. Philly 78.. I do think we hold so much inside then sometimes I explode and it all comes out.
I do journal a little about how I feel then when I reread it is depressing..lol
Hope you stay well and one day the roller coaster will stop for all of us..
hugs.

My mother -may she rest in peace- had the answer to all ills and problems:
Just put a little lipstick on. you will feel better.
I could have been dying, crying and Mom always came thru with those words...
I say this tongue and cheek to you. I am not making lightly of what you are saying. But my sister and I do get a good chuckle out when we are whining to each other-the other will say-----just put a little lipstick on, you will feel so much better!
