Not sure where to post this topic. So will start here.

Is anyone fighting chronic lyme without antibiotics?

My LLMD said it was up to me . I did try them for a short time at first by my medical doctor. After seeing the LLMD she wanted to treat with supplements for now trying to lower inflammation, build my immune and help with the gut. She felt them maybe I could tolerate antibiotics better.

I have been doing this for 3 months but admit I am not 100% in doing so with the supplements, diet etc. I did began to improve enough to get out of the house but now I seem to be drifting back to how I was. Can't get in touch with my LLMD for awhile due to the cost so thinking of trying abx low and slow my medical doctor is okay with this but he is one that doesn't think they help chronic lyme ..

I have never been on abx more than 2 weeks at a time, get to feeling better then forget to take them. Then back on them for awhile.

Yes, this is all my fault for feeling so bad but I honestly seem to do better without meds.

Tks. for any input.

phyl, hmm, forget to take them because you feel better? You say you do better without the antibiotics, then how can you feel so bad?

In order to get better, then you really need the meds. Maybe you feel bad because the body needs a detox.

If not antibiotics maybe try something more natural, but don't forget to take something to fight this disease.
I wish you well.

I have been "fighting" lyme recently without abx. I have been seeing a ND and working on my liver and gut. I think that this is a great way to keep healthy when facing long term lyme. You may already know this, but just a reminder that many Dr's think that Lyme has a 28 day cycle and that two weeks of abx are not really useful as the Bb hide in tissue that is not exposed directly to blood for most of the 28 days. Good health to you.

Tks. MDWOO5, I have decided to go with the antibiotics low and slow also some natural things.

Hammond, would you share with me some of the treatments you are on?

I know there is no cure but remission would be great.

Still can't except the fact I am not well, think I am still in denial and the horrid stories scare me.

Happy 4th..

Look into treating parasites/worms with antiparasitic herbs and maybe some salt/c. Do a search on here for lots of info. Parasites play a MAJOR role in lyme disease and getting well.

The horrid stories are from untreated or under-treated Lyme.

Lymetoo, its the horror stories of those being treated that scares me.

With that said, I have decided I must try treatment so have been on the abx. Maybe I will have a good story to tell later on.

Tks.

That is still not as bad as suffering for the rest of your life.

Suffer for 3 yrs or 30?? Take your pick.

I think there are degrees of sickness. If you can function w/out any meds then by all means try the herbal approach. But for some of us, not having antibiotics = bed ridden, crippled, non-functional, unbearable pain 24/7. So yes it's SCARY (I'm still scared every time I hang an IV) to digest, inject, drip all that poison in our bodies. But to me it's much scarier to STAY sick and living life half dead than to treat aggressively. So I agree w/ Lymetoo... I will tough it out for a few years in exchange for getting my life back. I still secretly hope I will have a miracle and it won't take me years. Sigh...

Thanks everyone for your replies.

There are no easy or sure ways with this darn disease. We are all different and have to decide what is best for us. If it wasn't for my age I feel I too would be more aggressive with treatment.

My LLMD wants me to start slow and low with abx. I told her I could start low but again the age issue not sure how slow I want to go. Don't want to jinks but so far so good with the abx.

My prayers to each..

I'm also curious if there are people who have been successful doing the antiparasitic herbs as opposed to the antibiotics.
