I don't think we're supposed to use Frontline, because of its toxicity.
Is there anything else you use on your monkeys?

Anything with blood in its veins is a target.
I heard a vet say that brewer's yeast just attracts ticks/fleas.

JSYK, I was mostly joking when I asked this question. I really don't have a monkey. I do love monkeys, though! I was just curious what kind of responses I would get, and also I wanted to see if anyone here really does have a monkey.
Stillwater - you really had a monkey?! Why did you get rid of him?
For a long time I wanted a capuchin monkey, until I learned that they are very aggressive and dangerous. Too bad there aren't any tame monkeys.
There's a cool youtube video of a capuchin taking a shower and lathering the shampoo on his head all by himself. It's very cute.

When I was 5, my best friend's family had 2 monkeys in a cage in their living/dining room. I remember the monkeys were loud, they stunk, and they bit.
But I loved the family's 2 6ft boas and many, many guinea pigs,and talking parrot! And I loved sitting on their big plaid sofa watching star trek with my friend and her two bigger brother!
Wow, hadn't thought of that family in a looong time...

I don't think Frontline is that toxic.
I read that they feed it to cattle to stop flies in the manure.

Carol, I wonder why they don't use diatomaceous earth? It's cheaper, 100% natural, and much safer for both the cows and the environment.
I thought Frontline was toxic because there's warnings on the box saying not to put it on humans. That's why I thought it would be harmful for primates as well.

When I use to use Frontline and Advantage I would always accidently get some on me.
Talk about making me sick. I would say it was toxic. That really opened my eyes.
I stopped using it on my dogs. They get olive leaf extract every morning to prevent any fleas or ticks.
I have no idea how one protects a monkey from ticks. Maybe they pick them off each other?

Disney - how do you use the olive leaf extract? Do you give it to them orally, or topically? Where do you put it? I've never heard of this solution.
You know what's funny? I would've thought that anybody who has a monkey in this country would have them caged up - hence there really is no danger of them getting ticks.
For a monkey to get ticks, that would mean that either the owner lets the monkey run around outside loose, or the owner goes for walks with the monkey on a leash. Both of those are funny scenarios, I think! Posted by iwouldratherbeatdisney (Member # 20602) on :
James-its powder form that I sprinkle it on in their dog food in morning. I get it from Olivus.
They also get coconut oil in their eve meal. My LLMD thinks they get better treatment than us humans haha
I take the olive leaf as well. But in capsule form for me.

I never heard that the olive leaf extract was good for reppelling ticks. I'm taking it on a daily basis for other health reasons.
I used to take it before I got bitten with the "Bite of Death" this year, but maybe I wasn't taking enough. After I got Lyme I started taking much more.
Thanks for the info. I'm gonna see now if my cat likes to eat it!

Not sure if it is for tick replent but I do know our dogs haven't had tick or fleas since using it. I would check out olivus website and see what they recommend dosage for cat.

i think they took that out of frontline tho
i think it is in advantix and bio spot-and some horse sprays have it. its listed.

If your so inclined james you could contact the authorities in Ohio and ask for one of that mans chimps that he had in his home.
That was a very sad story to read of all the animals being shot. I can't imagine having a bengal tiger running loose in my neighborhood. Let alone having chimps in my home.
We had a friend who had a very tiny monkey in a cage in his home. He was a mean nasty thing. They are cute but not meant to be pets.
