We've had record rain falls, giving us about a month of little to no sunshine. Of course, this was following the wildfires, earth quake, aftershocks, hurricane, tropical storm, tornadoes, and massive flooding.
We made it through the 5 day evacuation, the injuries and hospital trips, repeatedly having no electric, no phone, no running water and all that other stuff.
We are dealing with the mold, the total destruction of the 2 gardens, candle wax splattered on floors that won't come up, and miles of mud... but on the bright side we have cleaned out the coolers finally.
Still have about 50 trees down, grass that needs cutting, a roof that is leaking and a chimney to repair.
I can deal with that. I can.
What is driving me NUTS are the mosquitoes! They are everywhere! Just having the door open long enough to get in or out once a day lets in enough of them I could make a hefty sandwich with their little corpses.
I guess everyone has a breaking point. No doubt the mosquitoes are mine!
How about YOU? Please feel free to whine about something. It would make me feel better, cause misery loves company, so they say.

Wow - that's a hefty amount of summer action and aftermath!! Sorry to tell you, but we just had to deal with whether it was foggy or not! So much for SF summers. We're finally having one now.
What about trying out some Orange Guard? It's from oranges, and it's usually carried in hardware stores and healthfood stores.
It can also be ordered as a concentrate - am I allowed to list the url for that here? If not, I can email it to you.
It has TWO uses - one, it's an excellent bug repellent, as in the air, on the walls, and on clothing - not on skin -
and two, it's an outstanding cleaner, like against mold, etc. So you just might be able to kill mold and mosquitoes at the same time!

Minnesota considers the skeeter the state bird.
There dais are numbered,,winter weather will be here all too soon.
do wonder how they overwinter and survive. Must be hardy breeding stock.

Does it work for the stink bugs too? Yepper, they are back!
And due to the rain and wet everything, it seems every spider in the county has moved in. Maybe this will discourage them!

Most people know I REALLY can't stand the cold weather, but I have been kinda wishing for some every day now, then cringing a lot that I even thought about wishing for cold.
BTW- The injury wasn't me. I just had to clean and dress it during the stitches process.
It was the only one in the family (the stupid one) that would not evacuate when the hurricane was coming. Cleaning up broken glass door panels caused bad cut and trip to ER.
I can be very sympathetic, but it is hard to not add an "I told you so" when they don't listen. You know?
I am sure though that you always listen to good advise.

heard a good cure for millions if not more skeeters.
Build a bat house and find a tenant family for it.
Last couple years living on the farm didnt have a skeeter and all neighbors complained they had hoards.
Usually I had twice what they did. Always had swallows and skeeters overwhelmed them.
Dont know If my bellfry had bats but maybe did.
Had a family of owls too,,,that cant hurt either. They eat tons of mice ,,,a good thing and I spose skeeters too.
Moral of story is you need more livestock,,,wild variety

OMG I am a total mosquito magnet. I could put on spray and they will still bite me.. must be my sweet blood!
I still have a mark on my leg the size of a nickel from a bite about 4 weeks ago. I didn't even scratch it more than a few times. I guess the mosquito injected some chemical into me that made the capillaries explode, hence the big red mark on my leg.
I refuse to eat outdoors at night.

We always had bats in the attic in our home growing up. I never thought about how they would reduce the mosquito population. It was impossible to keep the bats out, though, because they would just fly in under the eaves. Sure made people think our house was haunted, though, when they would fly out at dusk. hahahaha!

Yep, Florida has some of the nastiest bugs I've ever seen, and I've been all around this great country. There's a dragonfly as big as my hand squished on my driveway right now that I refuse to go near. Freaky-looking grasshoppers the size of guinea pigs that hang out on the side of the house in spring.The tree frogs that make my windows and sliding door frames their home I don't mind so much, unless my cat has left me half of one on the front doorstep. Always great stuff to wake up to.
But right now, it's the love bugs making me nuts. They're everywhere, hang out in pairs, and they like to hang out in your hair and on your clothes. You open the door and it's literally like a swarm of the things. You drive and they're all over your windshield and hood and front bumper, and no simple carwash will remove their guts, oh no, you wait until the end of love bug season to have it professionally cleaned off or risk losing your paint. I hate the things.

sbh .. totally remember the swarms of lovebugs in Texas. Not every year is that bad... hope that is true for you!!
