We have been fighting with all our local docs and are seeking out an LLMD for our 12year old. Well last night she comes to me and says "I found a tick in my room". So I go into her room and sure enough there is one on her bead. As I start looking around I notice her cat, which only sleeps with her, on her bed. So I start checking the cat, who goes outside but is on flea stuff. Sure enough I pulled 2 ticks that were fully engorged off of her!
So I now have 3 ticks from my area sitting in a sealed jar. Would you have them tested? I am personally bringing them to my latest doctors apt on Thursday to show them "See it is possible she has lymes!!!!!"
Another thing is should our whole family be tested? I was diagnosed years ago with fibromyalgia, IC, endometriosis, and migraines. My knees and ankles hurt on a daily basis, and I am always so tired. I just attributed it to trying to be a full time mom and own a business. Now I am starting to wonder.
Does anyone have their pets on a GOOD tick preventative? Our dogs are only in the fenced yard, and on stuff, so I have NEVER found anything on them. The cat however gets out and wanders the neighborhood because she sneaks out the dog door.....

It sounds like you may need to be tested as well. Your symptoms sound a lot like mine were. They tagged me with fibromyalgia for 22 years before I was diagnosed.
As for the ticks, we use the stuff the vet sells us called First Shield Trio.
My husband spreads something in the yard that kills the ticks, fire ants etc. I don't know the name of it, but it comes in a reddish-orange bag from Home Depot.
It seems to kill pretty much everything and our dogs never have ticks, but they are exiled to the yard. I don't let them in the house.
Our cats, however, roamed free and they got ticks whether we put the stuff on them or not. We kept them outside as well.
I hope you get some answers soon. We had our whole family tested through Igenix labs. A good llmd should use them. Three out of four of us had lyme.

Yes, you should also be evaluated, but remember that the tests are not reliable.
You have enough symptoms that you should see a LLMD.

Oh dear. Yes, your symptoms are typical of Lyme. If you search Lyme endometriosis on Google or Lymenet, you will find tons of info.
So sorry. Don't let the doc take those ticks from you. Call Igenex. They test ticks!!!
And get your cat to the vet.
On another topic, do you love Great Pyrenees? Because I love Boxers.

I had all those .. then found out it was from Lyme and babesia. Get tested!!
Your place sounds like tick haven with all those pets! (I love pets... but am afraid to have another)

Maryland has a few LLMD's so ask in seeking an MD.
In CT is you bring the tick to the town health department they will send it to the state lab for testing (they don't test the ticks unless they are engorged under the mistaken impression it takes 36 hours to become infected.
I would have your daugher start a 3 week course of doxy (6 weeks is better). Make sure she takes probiotics.
Our daughter has just gone through HELL in the past two years as the MD's wouldn't start treatment with out the EM rash.
If you wait for the flu like symptoms it's too late.
Dr. Sapi's research indicates 80% of the ticks have something (Lyme, Babesia, Ehrlichiosis, Bartonella, anaplasmisis, worms and other parasites).
You personally sound like you need a non CDC Western Blot test.

Save your money on the tick testing. It is about $65.00 per test, per tick. Use the money to get a LLMD instead, and to help pay for additional prevention methods/measures.
I recently saw a report (from YOUR area) that had over 70 ticks tested that came from a known, highly endemic area for Lyme (and all of the coinfections), and NONE of the ticks came back positive for anything. Not one!
BUT...
Do take the ticks with you to the doctors to get your child treated. But really, do save your money- don't bother with the tick testing. Just like in people, the tests can miss the infections.
I would also suggest immediately getting your yard treated- either do it yourself or contact a professional... and get your cat out of the child's room and bed. Sleeping with an animal that wanders outside is like sleeping outside yourself.
The more ticks you are exposed to, the worse the infections can be and harder to get rid of, if you can at all.

Any doctor in Maryland who isn't on top of the Lyme and tick borne disease situation after the Lyme has been known to be here for over THIRTY years should be booted out of practice! Ugggggggg!

,I was just wondering where I might have gotten any of this... Cabin in mountains in state with no sick ticks????? I've been to sick to go there for over a year.
.. It's not fancy, cabin ,but safe haven.( I thought, could still be.) But now I think these brats are every where
. It could be from a lot of travel also. Colors in New England any body?/ Point is ,it's every where and it's killing people...

Grt, I don't have any pets myself these days, but I've been told that their fur can be lightly rubbed/misted with Orange Guard as an added protection against ticks.
This is an essential oil from oranges, nontoxic to us but kills/repels bugs. Hardware stores carry it. Put a little in a spray bottle, fill with water, and spray on clothing, immediate ground environment and lightly rub/mist on dog/cat fur.
