Quick background- Was diagnosed with Lyme about 8 months ago by LLD doctor (my bloodwork was negative). Was put on various abx for 7 months and saw improvement in symptoms, which included:

-joint pain
-finger numbness
-forgetfulness
-urinary problems

I'm a health and fitness guy and I was getting leery of taking meds for so long. Went to get second opinion by Lyme "expert" who said I should get off the meds and manage each symptom individually.

Which brings me to my question. Can those of you with experience please recommend any herbal and nature supplements that I could add to my diet? What do you recommend I try to keep the above mentioned symptoms at bay.

Thank you in advance for your help.

We all used to be "leery of taking meds for so long" - then we got hit with one of the most toxic infections known to man so we have our own internal toxin factories just from spirochetes.

Add to that the typical other 2-4 infections that go with lyme for each person and we need to be aggressive in addressing this.

Were you assessed for other tick-borne infections?

There's medicine that works and other stuff that does not. Good medicine can include Rx and supplements.

Lyme is an absolutely devastating infection and you need the BEST medicine you can get, guided by the very best LL doctor you can find.

You are at least in a state where there are both LLMD and LL NDs (naturopathic doctors). I will say that most LL NDs often incorporate antibiotics.

See the very best ILADS-educated holistic MD or LL ND you can find for a comprehensive approach that will not just try to "keep this at bay."

The goal is to reach a good solid and long remission. That usually takes a couple years (or longer). Sorry this is such a complex deal.

Diagnosing Lyme Disease (&/or whatever else is going on)

Includes a symptom check-list; articles; consideration of differential diagnoses.

Many LLMDs do consider other tick-borne infection and other stealth infections & parasites, heavy metals, etc.

But not ALL do so. Be sure to ask up front the extent of their detective "services" so to speak.

How to find an ILADS-educated LL:

N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor);

L.Ac. (Acupuncturist);

D.Ay. (Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine);

D.O.M. (Doctor of Oriental Medicine);

Integrative / Holistic M.D., etc.

Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:

Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures;

Knowing that support supplements are important, but NEVER enough alone. And knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.

You can compare and contrast many approaches.
