My friend's daughter is 19 and had to drop out of college due to a relapse. She is feeling very, very low because she feels like she is alone in all this. Missing all the stuff young people are supposed to be enjoying.
Anyone her age who would like to talk on the phone with her or email? Please PM me and I will put you two in touch. She is quiet and sweet, loves music and reading. She was a freshman in college until she had to drop out.
Also, lives in Northern, NJ way up by the the Rockland County, NY border. There are no support groups here that I know of so if anyone reads this who is nearby that would be great too.

I totally get it and have really had to shift my way of thinking about life in order to coupe. I've always been a very fun loving social person so its been a struggle big time.

Here is one thread I found by doing a search with the words teens and support. You might try this and see what else turns up.
Thanks everyone. I have sent her one person and will send the link poppy. When you realize this whole thing is definitely going to interrupt your life big time is the hardest time. When like you say Whitney, you shift your way of thinking it gets easier. I hope someone can help her get to that point. The friends I have made along the way with this have helped me so much.
Yes, I just checked that link and it doesn't work. The SE PA website has a group for teens, but it doesn't seem to be very active. Neither does the lymedisease.org group. Also, MDJunction group not very active. Is there something at lymefriends maybe?
Wondering why it seems hard to keep a teen group going. There have to be enough of them with lyme,so where are they?

I'm in the same position - I'm 23 and feel so completely lost and alone in this. I don't know how I managed to graduate but now I can't hold a job because of my lyme. I feel robbed of my life and my personality, everything feels difficult now and no one gets it.
I would be more than happy to give you my number to give to her, or email - whatever works. I'm in Fairfield County of CT and there are a few support groups here but none I would tell you to bother making the trek for.

Hi,
I just want to chime in here because I feel it's important to let you all know that treating parasites/worms is a VERY important part in getting rid of lyme disease.
It was the only thing that turned the corner for me. Check out the salt/c protocol and google parasite symptoms. Thirty days is not enough and treating until symptom free is important.
Google parasites here at lymenet and check my other posts. Hope all of you young people get well ASAP.

I also have a 19 year old daughter with chronic Lyme. She is doing much better now than she has for years, nearly symptom-free at this time. There have been times where she struggled mightily.
My daughter is graduating from high school tomorrow, a full year late, because of Lyme interfering so much with school attendance.

For this girl, and anyone else in the tri-state area, there is a great Lyme Support Group in NYC that meets twice a month. PM me if you want more info. There are some twenty-somethings in the group, who have had it affect their lives, schooling, etc. Meeting people in person would be good, too.
