The "MotherF****" genetic mutations stand for:
Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR).
The MTHFR gene provides instructions for making an enzyme called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. This enzyme plays a role in processing amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase is important for a chemical reaction involving forms of the B-vitamin folate (also called folic acid or vitamin B9). Specifically, this enzyme converts 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate to 5-methyltetrahydrofolate. This reaction is required for the multistep process that converts the amino acid homocysteine to another amino acid, methionine. The body uses methionine to make proteins and other important compounds.
It's a pain in the patooty to have. It means that we have great difficulty detoxing, clearing infections, and a host of other issues, including risks during pregnancy, etc. Our bodies do not utilize Folic Acid so we have to take, among other things, methylated forms called L-Methylfolate.
Basically, our body's Methylation Pathways are screwed up because of inherited genetic mutations.
To describe it, makes it sound like some version of an Alien Body Snatcher movie or something.
There's a lot more to it than what I've described. But I'm just not good at summarizing things anymore.
