I know.. I just quit eating salads because of the same criteria.

Olive oil would work.. but is so blah.

You can make dozens of spectacular dressings right in your own kitchen with various garden or dried herbs &/or spices.

Different oils (olive, avocado, sesame, any nut oil) and the juice of a fresh lemon or lime for the balancing acid that is necessary to emulsify the oil.

The possibilities are vast. Start with

Olive oil

thyme

garlic powder or bit of fresh grated garlic

same with ginger, less amount

sea salt

juice of fresh lemon (lime or grapefruit) and grate the ZEST of that fruit, too. Orange zest would be nice, too (and is sugar free as it's just the peeling).

Perhaps a slight touch of stevia for sweetness, if desired. With a "sweet dressing" trade in the olive oil for a good nut oil and some NUTS, too.

And shake it all about.

----------------------------

Walnut oil

a little juice from a grapefruit

Ground Coriander

Dash of nutmeg (very nice with spinach)

Sea Salt, barely a hint of stevia.

I'm lost when it comes to herbs and such. If I bought all that, it would end up going to waste.

I have started to just sprinkle herbs (fresh or dried) and salt and pepper on top of salads, then add olive oil. It took a bit to get used to it, but now I love it.

Try adding other "types" of dressings - homemade salsa, guacamole, etc. We also tend to make our own taco seasoning, which we add to meats that go on salads.

Grilled chicken or veggies on top of salads are also wonderful!

I use to have the same dilemna about finding a good salad dressing.

I now use spray olive oil and and salt and pepper or a spice blend. Have to be careful with the spice blends though b/c they can contain other garbage like MSG.

ticked makes a good point about the additives:

Excitotoxins; MSG; Aspartame; & "Natural" Flavors

Now guacamole would make the BEST "dressing!"
