My 35 year old son was diagnosed with Lyme a few months back. Everything seems out of whack. His immune levels are very low. His inflamation levels are very high.
His blood pressure has been getting higher and higher (172/115), etc. Heart rate 168. Cardiologist said that it has nothing to do with Lyme.
His cholesterol was 305, his triglycerides were 778 recently. Supposedly this has nothing to do with Lyme.
Now he had a pancreatitis attack over the weekend and is in the hospital with very high Lipase levels. None of this is supposed to have anything to do with Lyme.
I find it bewildering that so many things are out of whack and none of it has to do with Lyme.

Well, because they don't believe in it!
I sure hope they can do something for him. Hope they are not pumping him up with steroids.

I am sorry for your son and for you. So many people suffer due to a large portion of the medical communities ignorance.

Ditto: avoid steroids. Yes, indeed, I hope his is aware of the dangers of steroids (in the absence of guidance by a LLMD for only life or vision-threatening reasons).
Very common in the hospital to have aceteminophen passed out like candy. And I do understand the need for pain relief. But liver protection is absolutely vital, too, somehow.
I also hope they are not pumping him full of acetaminophen. That can be very hard in the liver and it blocks glutathione and the ability to properly metabolize and detoxify - and that affects all kinds of other functions all over the body.
I know you said he's not been up to doing the lyme research for himself so you've been guiding him. I really hope he's learned enough to be some kind of self advocate for some of these things.
Milk Thistle can help to protect the liver against acetaminiphen. A glutathione IV can also help. IMO, every doctor needs to know the risks of acetaminophen and what can help. Most don't but the medical literature is there.
Wish he could get to a LLMD but I'm fully aware that not everyone has that opportunity. I wish him luck. -

My LLMD is my primary doctor. I'm lucky because he's an internist and I live nearby. Those things can all be related to Lyme. I do hope you will find a doctor who can help.

Everything you list can be caused by Lyme and co-infections.
I hope the hospital can stabilize him, but don't expect their treatment to provide any long-term improvement.
Until the Lyme and co-infections are adequately treated, all of these conditions will likely return.
BTW, high cholesterol and triglycerides are protective during times of infection.
I'm sure they will want him on a statin-drug. Those don't often go well for us (or otherwise healthy people, for that matter.)
I hope you can figure out how to get an LLMD to help both of you.

i am so sorry for him. i hope they get this pancreatitus under control and it's a one time issue. it can cause chronic so i'm hoping it does not for him.
i'm dealing with some of the same issues. i dare not mention lyme to this doctor or hospital.
