You know those bumper stickers with the eagle on them and usually say "God Bless our Troops"??
Complete with eagle picture background except words say
"God Bless Deer Ticks"
no smiley faces or lol behind either
IF I had more time I would have looked around for the owner,,,,but was on the run.
I WILL ask today to see if anyone knows whose bumper that was AND explain,,,,has to be the rest of the story there.
Any one seen such a bumper sticker????

"Deer Tick" is a popular indie band from Rhode Island that has music on U-Tube. I googled it and saw the bumper sticker "God Bless Deer Tick" complete with American Eagle and flag (!) Is that the one?

UGH! What a name for a band!!

- Thanks to Ann-OH's lead . . . found out WHY that name . . . could not find a picture of the bumper sticker, though.
I've not heard them (can't handle percussion so won't even try that). So very sorry that they choose this name on a whim - just repelled by a tick on his scalp. Lyme was not even a thought.
Apparently, he was lucky, though (and apparently not bitten or the tick was not infected), to be able to go on and prosper like this.
Wonder now if they are lyme-aware - but the name is just so off-putting. Apparently, they are quit good, garnering international audiences.

Deer Tick (band)
Excerpts:
Deer Tick is an American alt-country band from Providence, Rhode Island
. . . McCauley explained that inspiration for the name Deer Tick came while he and Brendon Massei, also known as Viking Moses, were hiking in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest near Bloomington, IN.
McCauley found a deer tick on his scalp later that evening, which caught the singer off guard. McCauley stated that he had never come in contact with a tick, even though as a child he frequently went camping and fishing. He was thus inspired to name his band after the parasite, stating that it sounded cool. . . .
Appears to be the band's website -

Sorry, but that is so dumb. He has no clue.

- I know. Beyond sad for several reasons.
Their namesakes carry diseases that torture, rob and kill.
The band's name and popularity also seems to be a horrible kick in the gut for those with TBD as it ignores the topic of infection -- and many may think deer ticks are just no real threat, just icky. So this is anti-awareness, really. -

stupid is as stupid does...

Looked 'em up on You Tube.
Keeb.. you could stand this song as far as noise. I don't really care for his voice.
I will try that. I did try one of their videos at their MySpace page but it was heavy on drums from the get-go so I had to make a fast getaway.
Wonder if they'd ever consider a name change? Wonder if they'd consider TBD awareness? -

Blessing Deer Ticks?
Nah, not me. Squashing, immolating, crushing, spraying, powdering and otherwise obliterating works for me.
Ticks must die.
Oh, it's a rock group.....never mind. LOL!
Obviously this group has never experienced the joy of LYME Disease or they wouldn't have named themselves that.

Keeb.. this is just a vocal .. not much else... and no drums. And NO, now that they are famous I'm sure they would not change their name. And Lyme awareness would not "be cool."
Nemo.. that was funny!! Posted by Keebler (Member # 12673) on :
- TuTu,
Very nice piano - but that particular vocal style of that song just hurts my ears and had to stop early into it.
Something about certain voices (speaking or singing) that are like fingernails on the chalkboard. It's not necessarily about volume though even slight shifts can "cut" through my ears.
But it was nice to hear a bit of a song without drums. Thanks. -

IF thats a band name,,,I am NOT going to even listen.
Who in their right mind would name a BAND that name???????
Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
You got it, don!
keeb.. I didn't like his voice myself but I know it's different with your experience.

I actually have seen Deer Tick live on many occasions. I think they are a great band and have never been offended by the band's name. To each their own on this, I guess. Jess.

At first I could not stand the raspy voice but the song reminded me of what music sounded like when I was in high school.
So I liked it.
I will try to hear more of this strange named band.

Well they are not quite polished enough. A person half expects them to break into (By By miss americam pie) drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry.
But they don't quite have it yet, they might some day if they don't die from Lyme and Babs.

I'd call that a bumper ticker - funny, but not funny. Ok, I'm laughing, and then I stop laughing. I've stopped...
Now, I'd go for Deer Tick banned...

Thanks, Just Don and Lymetoo! - I like to be silly if possible.
Btw, I thanked you both, and Kam too, in the end of the London Olymp-ticks report in the Chicken thread in Off-Topic. I think they're going to Burning Man next, only, you know, in our case, it might be Burning Tick...
