My health coach told me about soap nuts. She gave me some and will sell me some at cost later. I'm not sure where she bought them.

Here is a link that tells what they are. They clean laundry like CRAZY!!! No residue, no scent, just clean clothes that smell great!! No need for dryer sheets and your clothes come out super soft!!

The ones she bought do not cost any more than if you used regular laundry soap.. may even be cheaper.

These are actually HULLS, not nuts... but they are called soap nuts.

Very interesting, thanks!

When I first read "soap nuts" in the title of your post, I thought it was some kind of food. [lol]

I am so totally hooked on these. Too bad I wasted money on SOAP that is now sitting there taking up space! Another PLUS!! No bottles of laundry detergent sitting around; no fabric softener either!

[Big Grin]

I'm nutty for nuts!!

I saw that on the Shark Tank a while back!

Since it's not something someone MAKES, I'm surprised it would be on Shark Tank.

There must have been a spin on it. Great stuff!

If you have MCS, this is the product for you!!

are they really nuts? what if you have nut allergies?

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

No, not in that sense of the word. Take a look at the link above. It shows them harvesting the nuts. They are not edible.

An added bonus of using these is that you don't need dryer sheets and you don't need fabric softener!!!

I'm washing a load right now and it's so great that I don't have to make sure I put something in the rinse cycle. So much easier.

Also, you put 5-6 nuts in a little cloth bag and tie a knot in the drawstring. Easy to retrieve when the load is done. It does NOT go thru the dryer!

Those 5-6 nuts lasted me a month of washes. Now, granted, there are only two of us in this household, but they last a long time!!

Here is more info. Shop around on other sites, because I don't know if this is a good price or not.

They are not edible. I think they are just seed pods. WATCH THE VIDEO on the site.

do they really clean clothes though? what about food stains, dirt stains?

Posted by Catgirl (Member # 31149) on :

I saw them on Shark Tank. The makers (don't know if these are the same ones), said that they have to be sterilized, other wise they bring lots of bacteria, etc, with them.

Posted by Catgirl (Member # 31149) on :

Do you have to dry them out between uses (mold)?

Posted by Kudzuslipper (Member # 31915) on :

I'm just wondering about contact allergies.... Can't use things with coconut oil in it.

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Yes, they clean very well. They get stains out as well as any detergent. I always treat stains separately anyway.

The clothes come out smelling really fresh. No scents though. So if you're used to clothes smelling like some fragrance, forget it.

My friend said I don't have to dry them out. I wondered about that too. I just leave them in the bag.

Kudzu.. these are perfect for those with allergies. I would go to the link above and buy the sample pack.. very cheap.

Kudzu... The pods are empty.. they are hulls. So no real nuts to be worried about.

There was something very similar on the Sharks a couple of months ago. Hum.. gotta check it out.

That's what someone said above.

Thanks for the tip. Since they're "the bomb" I decided to order some for me and some for Christmas for family that have allergies--without trying them first!

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

You'll love them!

(just try to remember NOT to run them thru the dryer! .. and PS.. no need for dryer sheets if you're using the soap nuts)

Thanks Lymetoo,

Maybe if I post a sign on the washer to not put the soapnuts bag in the dryer then post a note on the dryer to read the note on the washer...

lol-- I have all these strategies to help remember things

Here's hoping!

I know! It is hard sometimes! You'll mess up at least once. That's a given!

You got my note about using 5-6 pieces of the hulls for the loads?

And you bought one of those little bags? My friend told me I didn't need to take the nuts out of the bag each time, so that helps too.

Posted by granniela (Member # 17134) on :

Yes, got the PM, thanks--wondered why there was a blinking light at the top and looked closer.

Yes about the little bags. Decided to get an extra one for me and for each recipient so if one gets lost somehow, there's a backup plan.

5 to 6 nut pieces per bag about 10 loads per bag.

I'm starting to think I may need a dry-erase board for things to remember ;-) It'll be easy once I get in the habit, it's just the forming a new habit thing.

I'm excited. Especially to have figured out a mail order gift for so many on the list!
