ya'll know that my husband sold my 2004 honda to his sister for 7500 when i didn't want to. his name was on the title (big mistake) and she wanted it. long story.
so she calls again....she wants to know about the window tinting and is going to have the windows done.
duh....it's already done and you don't need to do it again. it was done at the dealer. but apparently she doesn't like it...
mike told them "go for it" and that texas and ohio laws are different on window tinting.
he sold it to her years ago and she's still coming back on us.
well at least he said he would never ever sell anything to his family again. and i told him over my cold dead body that's when.

I don't understand..if she bought the car it is no longer your responsibility, so if she wants to retint the windows you are not obligated to pay.

yeah that's what i keep saying. but since she bought it from my husband and he's her brother, i guess she feels that until she gets rid of it, he's on the hook. and of course, it's family so he feels obligated....well i don't...

My cousin bought my minivan a few years back. We charged them less than book value. They were looking for a van, and I was looking to sell mine.
To me, it was a business transaction with good intentions re: family. The van was in good shape and was well-maintained. They got a good deal from us, and we were happy to help them out and get a few bucks in return. We could have gotten more if we traded in with a dealership, but hey, family is family.
The fact that they had to replace something or other months later was not my problem. And if it was my own kid, that wouldn't be my problem either. They mentioned it at one point but quickly dropped the subject.
It's one thing if you sell someone a lemon. It's another thing if you sell them a well-maintained vehicle below what they'd pay at a dealership/used car place for the same thing.
I don't get why your hubby feels so obligated here??
