i guess you could say i'm getting a colonscopy for christmas since i'm having it on saturday!!
still having pain and burning in lower abdomen. flagyl doesn't seem to be working this time.
am concerned to have this done cause i don't feel well, but wth...i guess if you don't feel well, the hospital is the place to have this done.
if something happens, they'll be prepared.
so tomorrow on liquids and prep drinks...OMG...i dread this.
i mean, i already have diahhrea so let's just drink stuff that makes it worse!!!
i'm truly wondering what he's going to say...well, i'll be out of it and he'll talk to husband.
but he better dang well not tell him "your wife just wants attention", or so help me, i'll lay that guy out...

That's right! Talk to that Dr ahead of time and tell him you expect to be treated with respect and dignity!
Shall we sing "Joy to the World?"
Best of luck!

My hubby had one just this week. I said I can't believe that they have not invented a less barbaric way to do this procedure.
I had surgery LAST week and my last words to the Dr before I went to happy land were "be careful what you tell my husband -either tell my sister or wait til I am lucid". The Dr was a bit perplexed, but I felt it necessary!
He talked to both, but my sister got the story straight.

this doctor is pretty no-nonsense so i think he wouldn't make any statements like that last jerk.
but i dread the ole "there's nothing wrong, it's ALL IN HER HEAD" statement, but with the ct scan saying i have diverticuli throughout the ascending and descending colon, well, there's no way around that!!
he did tell me tho, that another attack and this has been my 4th, and "we're gonna have a conversation about taking that colon out".....ugh
waaaaa......

- Dogs.. The current procedure is WAY BETTER than what they were doing back in the 70's. Have you ever had a barium enema?? Now THAT was indeed BARBARIC. I said your exact words when I had one done. I could not believe it was so horrible.
You were WIDE AWAKE during those and they were beyond AWFUL! Very PAINFUL.
And to think that my dad had to have one every single year for 15 yrs because he'd had colon cancer when I was 5.
Randi.. I am SO GLAD this is a different Doctor!!!!

yes and they have new sedation meds also. this new one, they flip that switch and i'm out. then i wake up about an hour or so later with no grogginess or anything.
it used to be versed but it's called something else and i can't remember the name. they said it's much safer and you use less. the patients tolerate it very well.

Being knocked out is GOOD!! NO way I would do it while awake.

Last time I had one, I was awake the whole time. Never going back to that doctor again! You need to be out for that. Posted by MADDOG (Member # 18) on :
The last one i had left me full of gas.
I let one rip just when i was coming to from being put out.
I yelled (DONT NOBODY LIGHT NO MATCHES)!!
The office staff were ROFL.

well, randi is in la la land this morning. Here's to everything being ok, but still getting some answers for your difficulties in GI area.

Last one I had they told me if I passed gas, they would give me a cookie. The beds were divided by curtains and I am not into public tooting.
But I wanted and I got my cookie.

So sorry randi. I've had one of those, not on Christmas though. They found a couple polyps on me, but that was it. They took them out. Hope everything is okay. Oh, and I had to do the prep for 2 days instead of one, due to my pain meds..ugh.
