i spoke to my sister and she said get two, three opinions before you start this.
so i call my old gastro's office, the one who retired, and they told me they do not give second opinions on a gastro's call for a surgeon. the suggested i go to the surgeon and then get another opinion from there.
this doctor treated me for at least 15 years and in 2010 he diagnosed me with diverticulitis. so no big news there.
so i call the surgeon's office and get an appointment for january 11th at 4:00. (the day before i leave on that cruise)..
i'm taking husband with me and i want him in the office to hear this. i get so nervous i can't remember one word and he's so skeptical i want him to hear this first hand.
the old dr's office told me to get abx, flagyl and cipro, and go on the cruise and don't worry about it. but at least this way i see him before i leave. great....
i have a funny feeling about this, i really do. two doctors have diagnosed me with this crap and it does seem to be getting worse.
now i did have a friend who had this done, she has chron's, and she was off work for five months. but she was fine afterwards. they took about 18 inches out. hers was heriditary.
i researched this surgeon. top notch. one of five in the country to do some procedure, member of boards, etc., etc., highly qualified. head of departments at baylor and some other hospital. operates on dallas cowboys, can't remember the guy's name.
so anyway he's qualified.
well we'll see what happens.

I wish you well in your search and making a choice. Things always have a way of working out, just hard to get thru all the"stuff" of getting there.
I am hopeful the meds will help while you are on your cruise.
Enjoy.....

Best of luck Randibear. These decisions are SO hard, because you don't know if the docs are taking into consideration your infectious problems, as they don't believe they exist. Have you spoken to llmd about all this. He may have insight as well. Great idea having dh go along with you. I had my dh go to my llmd before and it really opened his eyes about some of the stuff that is wrong with me. All the best on the decision.
