Coughing lije crazy. Im concerned because his temp is 102.5 But he's lucid just feels really weak. Any suggestions?

Probably should see a doctor in case he has a bronchial infection and needs abx. There is a bad flu going around. If his temp goes any higher, a trip to the E R would be in order. hope he feels better.

How high can an adult temp go before getting really concerned?
Posted by glm1111 (Member # 16556) on :
This is not medical advice, but a temp of 103 for an adult can be dangerous
If it stays at 102 for a few days it should not be ignored.
Why don't you call your doctors office and ask them what they advise and maybe they will give him something for the cough.

The flu hit our house as well. Family came in for the Holidays and all but 2 ended up with it.
We took Oscillicoccinum and it helped a great deal. Key is to start it quick.
It definitely helped all of us with our body aches and I feel it really shortened the duration.
Of the 2 that didnt get it (yet......) - one took the oscillicoccinum as a precaution.
My mom and I both started it as soon as we had symptoms and ours was only bad for about 30 hours.
My temp went to 103 but it was short lived. All I did was lots of fluids, motrin, vit C, zinc and oscillicoccinum.
Good luck - I hope it passes for him quickly. Take care of yourself too....you are exposed.

Is that over the counter or prescription?
Posted by map1131 (Member # 2022) on :
Gosh, randi you need to take some preventive stuff now. Your vacation is coming up in a few days and wouldn't that be the pits.

yeah can you imagine??
i spent yesterday at baylor emergency with a diverticulitis attack. he's at home with a temp of 102. i have appt with surgeon for consultation on friday.
the dang car light is on saying i need service and the dealer is in north dallas. i can't drive in that traffic and he says no way.
things are totally crashing around here.
one thing may be a saving grace. if we have to cancel and it's his fault due to flu, i won't be blamed.
sorry but that's the truth...

Everyone in my house just had the flu and we all had 103 temp. including adults.
Posted by tickled1 (Member # 14257) on :
...and surprisingly I fought it off just as well as everyone else much to my surprise!
Good luck Randi!

Regarding oscillico, it looks like some Walmarts carry it and the rest can order it.
Yes, it's over the counter. TF is right, the oscillococcinum is sold at Target and Wal-Mart. I would think CVS, Walgreens etc would have it too.

tell butthead ( or is that beavis) that it is all in his head and he is not REALLY sick.

plus leave the car service till you get back home,,,it wont care or matter!!!!!
Cause how many miles will you drive till then 50 maybe. you can go a long way farther by 1000 or more miles and NOT hurt a thing!!!
Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :
Well gues who has a fever of 103.5!!!! Man am I sick. He says f we're not better there's no way they'll. Let us on that boat. You have to fill out a medical form and we'd be sunk
Posted by map1131 (Member # 2022) on :
Well you wouldn't want to spread the flu to 2000 others. Of course you wouldn't be the only ones walking aboard carrying the flu bug unknown.
Did you buy traveler's insurance?
Take care of you and hope you bounce back quickly.

at first i was thinking...i would never risk being at sea and catching the flu...but if you get better you two might be immuned...right? maybe you'll have a wonderful time
Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :
That. Cruise insurance is a scam. You can only get out of A cruise if your in the hospital and even then there's no guarantee.

2007 had a tempature of 104 and rising, by the time i got to emergency room i could not talk, could not walk. 24 hours to stabilize .
Posted by tickled1 (Member # 14257) on :
How are you guys doing? Are you going to be able to go on the cruise? Hope you're doing better!
Posted by merrygirl (Member # 12041) on :
Oh no feel better!!!!! We have tamiflu on standby. none of us are vaccinated.
Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :
Merrygirl if you can get that shot . Im too sick now. Nothing to mess with.
Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
You have to take the tamiflu immediately when you begin to get sick. We have some from 2 yrs ago. Hope it's still good.
Feel better ..both of you!
Posted by randibear (Member # 11290) on :
my doctor said the shot takes at least 10 days to be effective. you can take the tamiflu if you start having symptoms. but you have to take it within 48 hours and it just lessesn the symptoms by a day or so.
unfortunately i waited too long for either.
Posted by lostlyme (Member # 38561) on :
well we have a long time to prep for the flu and build our body up with vitamin-d and d-3 ,
I don't believe in flu vaccine shots, I might have had the flu 3 times if that , 5o years old .
Everyone i know who gets flu shot gets sick . For my above post on my Temperature of 104 was because of Meningitis in 2007 , and that was finally diagnosed as being caused by a tick on june of 2012, by an LLMD

Reminder to those of you who have a rife machine. Use it daily, 2-3 times on cold/flu settings.
If you are afraid you have a bad strain of the flu, there are also freqs available for the different strains like H1N1, Type B, A, etc.
Sometimes we forget about our rife machine ability to knock out other simple illnesses.

What is the dose for oscillococcinum ?
Do you take it before or just with symptoms?
Thanks.
Posted by Keebler (Member # 12673) on :
- dose for oscillococcinum ?
See the package (or their site) for detail.
They have 2 basic formulas - one every two weeks during flu season and a different one for the first instant one might feel a hint of the flu.
Then that could be repeated for the first few days.
I've had this stop symptoms in their tracks, though, was advised to keep up with it for a few days. -
