Ethan is in 7th grade, and is in intensive care at a major hospital with fever and complications from the flu.
He does not have lyme.
Please pray for Ethan and his family. They are wonderful people.
Thank you!!

- If they give him acetaminiphen (which is so often the case), I hope his parents can also insist on some kind of liver support (maybe such as IV glutathione &/or IV magnesium).
Magnesium can help the liver and also help reduce inflammatoin and pain. The glutathione can have immediate benefits but also can be a life saver.
Some hospitals have naturopathic physicians on staff (though they may be only in the cancer departments, it is best to have a ND on the case, too).
. . . Even a single dose of acetaminophen can reduce the body's levels of glutathione, a peptide that helps repair oxidative damage that can drive inflammation in the airways, researchers have found. . . .
Tiny overdoses of Tylenol can add up to deadly damage
By Rachel Rettner 11-22-11
Taking even slightly too much Tylenol over a period of several days can lead to an overdose with deadly consequences, a new study says. . . . -

Good news is that Medical world is taking flu treatment very seriously. I'm glad he's getting cared for in the hospital.
Prayers that he is up and perky in no time.
My two college students had flu in Dec and it was a piece of cake to get the meds they needed by phone. They were up in 3 days !!

ann says two of her friends are in the hospital with flu. one man got it, then got pneumonia and then had a heart attack!!!
it's serious stuff...

oh my, randibear...that's too bad. Praying.

Dekrator, does developing meningitis suggest something other than the flu? Or can flu virus turn into meningitis? I know I've heard bacterial and viral meningitis?
Prayers this young boy gets all the best care.

Thanks map1131!
I wish I had more details, but I only have limitied info about his condition from prayer chain updates.
It is always possible that it initially looked like the flu but was later diagnosed as meningitis.
Here is what I now know:
He has meningitis and Ethan is now in his second surgery at a major hospital.
Ethan and his family can use all the prayers they can get.
Thank you all!!

Thanks beaches!
Still waiting for an update.
All I know is that Ethan was out of surgery late last night and his parents were waiting to see him.

Thanks dogmom!
I heard third-hand (hoping for confirmation soon) that Ethan is doing much better today and the Dr's are thinking of moving him to a regular room!!
Considering how very sick he was just last night, this is a miracle!
Our God is an awesome God! He heard our cries for help and He answered them!!
Thank you all....keep praying!

randibear,
I don't have all the details, but it is possible that they first thought he had the flu and then later diagnosed him with meningitis.
Early symptoms of meningitis can look like the flu.

That is what I thought too when I looked up meningitis.
I didn't know there was a surgery for it. Apparently, there is alot I didn't know about it. Viral vs Bacterial etc.
I'm glad he's doing better. Prayers still going.
Slightly enlightened now. KW

Thanks KentuckyWoman!
I think the surgery he had may have been to drain a brain abscess.
Posted by lax mom (Member # 38743) on :
Thank God he is doing better!
Still praying he continues to recover.

I just heard that yesterday (Wed), Ethan ate well for the first time since being hospitalized, and wanted to watch tv, which was also new.
He was unable to move his left foot before the brain surgery, and that was a little better yesterday. They are waiting to see what happens with that.
His parents are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and prayers.
Thank you all, so much, for your prayers.
Please continue to pray for complete healing for Ethan.

I saw Ethan's Dad at church this morning.
He said Ethan is home and doing well.
He will have some rehab, is still taking antibiotics and will have a few return visits to the major hospital/Dr for checkups.
