It's ridiculously easy to sign. They don't want any personal info. Please just sign it.

We have only 4,613

Number of SIGNATURES NEEDED BY FEBRUARY 10, 2013 TO REACH GOAL OF 25,000 is 20,387

At this rate it is mathematically impossible to reach our goal.

Hope it picks up.

It's easier to pull teeth than to get people to sign these. Lyme and co's are such an injustice and ruin so many lives, yet so people just take it with a smile.

I don't know why there are so few signatures on this? There is another petition about changing the guidelines that was circulating around that has many more. I tried to sign that one again and was told I had already signed. [loco]

dbpei someone had a sign at a rally that said "You don't get it until you get it". That describes Lyme perfectly.

Unless you live with the person with Lyme(and even then some people are in denial)or have it yourself, you can't imagine the horror of this disease.

I do know of a an oncologist who put himself into the hospital he worked at on an IV after he got bit. He was scared his Lyme would turn chronic.

Too bad most people can't do that. No they have to follow the guidelines to hell.

create an account , very easy to do
check your email , very easy to do

You're only one step away from creating your Petitions.WhiteHouse.gov account.

Just click on the link below or cut and paste it into your web browser to confirm this is a working email address:

IMPORTANT: If you created your account in the process of signing a petition on We the People, you still need to click on the "Sign this
Petition" button on the petition's webpage.

I clicked on "sign the petition" filled in the info and it said they'd send an email which I never got.

Now, when I go to the site, the "sign the petition" button is grayed out and cannot click on it.

Does that mean I DID sign?

I've had two friends email me back that they weren't able to sign either.

I did get it to work.

Someone told me though that we'll keep getting emails from whitehouse.gov now. That person didn't want to do it for that reason.

Thanks Marz!! Glad it worked for you.

A number of people have had trouble getting this site to work, which may have something to do with the numbers of signers. Plus, there really was not enough time.

8,245. I think it is gathering steam...

It expired, didn't even come close. By refusing to sign this, the lyme community is confirming what the Dr's are saying: lyme is rare and not a dangerous disease. I really don't get why these petitions are failing.

Droid is right....it is so ridiculous that petitions like this keep failing. If we continue to NOT band together and make our voices heard, the prevailing collective wisdom will continue to be that lyme is a rare and easily treated illness. We need to step it up or we have to accept continued marginalization. Jess

It is so disappointing.

I don't know why more people didn't sign. I think the site itself may be why. I myself thought I had signed when in fact it didn't register.

For every person with lyme that signs, there's 3 that won't and persuade others not to. Fear of being blacklisted by Dr's or something (as if anyone with lyme hasn't been already through insurance or dr's).

Is it me or what? Every other day there is some kind of petition to sign. And there's a deadline and a minimum number of signatures.

Who is creating these petitions? Who figures out the minimum number of signatures and the deadline for securing same?

I'd think petitions would have more weight if they came from organizations like ILADS or Lymenet or some other heavyweights instead of random people here and there.

I don't underestimate the impact random people like us as individuals can have but I just think as far as petitions, it's a bit futile to keep posting them in hopes enough signatures will be received so the petition can be forwarded to whomever.

I'd rather save my signature and statements for petitions that will get the most bang for the buck.

Beaches, the hope is that one gets off the ground. It's sooo easy to do. One of them will take off.

Here's the main petition against the IDSA that doesn't have a deadline. And STILL no one's signing it. It's been around for over a yr and there's only 26,000 signatures.

droid, I tried to sign but it said I already did. Yeah me! I know you can't give money to all the charities you feel a connection with, but signing is free and makes you feel like you are doing something.

I am getting somewhat stronger and can't wait until the next protest the guidelines! Remember to let me know when it is Paul Mall! He's amazing. As are we all. And we should stick together. There is strength in numbers.
