We've all got to do more ... though I don't know just what that would be ... to get more recognition of the Lyme problem throughout the NE states. And I mean not just the Fed and State governments, but doctors and insurance companies also. Doctors in particular should not hesitate to reference an LLMD if they can't handle the case. That has been and continues to be a big problem in our area of Maine. It's not a matter of just reading reports and news stories ... some action needs to be taken by those in a position to help based on all of those. We have met so many people who have suffered from Lyme disease for 20+ years and so many others whose history with Lyme is only the past few years but whose conditions have gone to or are verging on becoming chronic ... simply because they couldn't get the right treatment for a disease that their doctor didn't recognize and therefore prescribed the wrong treatment.
