Hi guys,

I sent Mr. Stolow (admin or something for LymeNet) an email about a possibility of having a videochat program on Lymenet since this would be closer to face-to-face communication.

He hasn't gotten back to me and chances are won't. I don't care why. I already sent multiple messages.

So, can we organise a regular group chat on Skype, IRC or Yahoo or some other program for discussions about Lyme Disease and related-subjects here? Like have a regular chatroom hosted so you can say, log in at 5am and even if no one is there, it's up?

I think not only would it save so much money since more people would spend their time there than here (less posts), it would be more frequent contact, and once again, more close to face-to-face.

The technology is there.

Have you been to www.LymeFriends.org ?? I think they had a chat for awhile. I THOUGHT it died out due to lack of participation. Not sure though. Check with them.

LymeToo, this is a larger community -- that place I have never even heard of.

And who was even supposed to know about a place like that?

Can we post a link or something on the mainpage here telling people about all the various resources? And make it big so you don't miss it/that you have to click it to participate on the forums?

I was in the Lyme chat room almost every night for years.
We had several people who showed up almost every night, so that there was almost always someone there.

Remember, the information you get there is only as good as the people who are giving it.
Just like here.

If the room is full of newbies, and you ask a technical question, the answer you get is dependant on their experience.

Many times I suggested to people that they should post their query at LymeNet, where hundreds would see it.
It's exhausting to compose good answers, at least it is for me.

Lyme Chat, no password needed.

This is the free version of the chat room...we used to have the paid version, which had extra features.

If no one else is there yet, wait a while.
Experiment with the icons on the bottom.
You can enlarge the room to full screen and enlarge the font, making it easier to use.

Carol, someone in the link above said this chat was no longer in use.

Lyme Friends still has a chat room, but it is not very active. It used to be a wonderful, active chat room that was hopping every night. When Facebook became really prevalent, most people moved over there and Lyme Friends slowed down a great deal overall.

Recently we stopped paying for the enhanced chat room as it wasn't being used much, but there is still a basic chat room. It is there and can be used at any time. I was recently contacted by someone who was looking for people to chat with and was hanging out in the chat room. If people want to chat, you can meet up in there.

Another option is video chat on Google chat. There is a Lyme Chat every Sunday night.

From Paul Mall:

We do chats at 8pm on Sundays on Google Hangout

we are in one now

You can check the facebook event each sunday for the updated link using this link

There are also lots of other resources available at www.lymefriends.org. Lyme Friends has been around for about 5 years and has over 2500 members.
