I'm only posting this so people can see it and post their own comments on the page.

Liar, liar, pants on fire.

With people like this in CDC, public health is in big trouble.

Not once have these people come down off their tax-payer funded pedestal to really engage with the issues. They just keep mouthing the same stupid stuff.

You know why he wrote this piece for the newspaper? In order to derail the legislation in that state pertaining to lyme. This is a crime. Put Lyle Peterson in jail.

That's right, they don't care if you suffer and die of a treatable infectious disease. They don't want you to get treatment.

Our government is really no less corrupt than any third world country.

No, they aren't directly committing genocide.

But they are purposefully letting viruses, infections, and toxins increase morbidity and kill citizens.

All for the benefit of treating each symptom separately by the medical system. Never going after the root cause.

This guy should not just be thrown in jail, it should be worse than that.

I hope people would post comments on this article. It's getting a lot of angry replies.

Oh it's that silly old CDC bunch again. Looks like they suckered another sacrificial lamb into doing their dirty work. I guess he just expects folks will believe whatever he says because he is from the CDC.

[lol]

This garbage sounds like it is from someone who has been taking advantage of the fact you can legally smoke dope in Colorado now.

OR, maybe he was led to believe by Ben Beard and his merry men that in an epidemic state like NY someone might actually believe him?

HA!

Yep, too many dopes in Colorado!

[lol]

So a bigwig @ CDC posts a response to a small town Poughkeepsie newspaper article?

Threatened much?

Guilty much?

"Laboratory testing is also helpful for patients in the later stages of disease when done correctly and performed with proven methods."

The excuses surrounding lyme testing remind me of H&R Block ads: the CDC's 17 reasons why the Western Blot failed to reveal you have lyme but is still a very useful test (when conducted properly, during week 6 post infection, during a symptom flare, under a full moon.)

The test is also good if you haven't eaten pizza in the last 3 weeks. If your house number ends in an even digit. If your carpet is regularly vaccuumed. If you have a dog named Spot.

However, if you are one of the lyme denying officials or wrote the IDSA treatment guidelines, you don't need a positive test of any kind to get whatever length treatment you need. Same for friends and relatives of these people. This is not a guess, there have been known cases. And if you thought personal experience would change their minds, you don't understand that it isn't mistaken beliefs that motivate them. They know better but will not admit it, or change their behavior.

Yup. THat is a fact. Forget if I was the one to tell you the specifics or not (doesn't matter). It's ALL about more and more money for THEM. Who cares about the rest of the country and world? Not them.

Poppy, I thought the test was good only if your house number ended in an odd digit?? And I thought you couldn't eat pizza for the 3 weeks prior to testing???

In all seriousness, of course they know. These IDSA docs themselves did the original research back in the 70s/80s that proved LD was a chronic persistent infection. Kinda ironic that today's researchers often reference THEIR original work.

It wasn't til they started to make mucho dinero on patents, vaccines, etc. that they decided to change their tune and decided there was such a thing as Psst Lyme Disease Syndrome. And that makes so much sense, given there's also a Post Syphilis Syndrome. Right???

The truth always comes out in the wash. We're still in the rinse cycle so it'll take some time before we can get to the spin cycle and have things adjusted correctly.

Ha - Steere has early papers saying that Lyme is a relapsing illness.
