there have been psotings about a new infection in tecks that causes death very soon after bite...i think they are on this site...i may not be able to find them

Yes, tests are highly inaccurate, but at least the state of New York is doing some testing. I long ago decided that kids get much more attention than adults with tickborne diseases.
I threatened the hospital where Steve died that I would call the CDC, and I wish now I had at least called the state health department, but I did not think of that.
The only additional testing done by the hospital was one more babesia bloodslide and a set of cultures of lung tissue.
If I had not known to request the outside labs from Clongen and Fry Labs I would have no evidence that Steve's death was caused by babesia.
I should have had more blood samples frozen as well. And it sure would have been beneficial to test the spleen that had the bloodclot. Tests of the liver and bone marrow and the heart could also have been useful for research purposes.
