I am home from work because of chronic tick born illness and I see Hoda and Kathie Lee with "IDSA you only need 4 weeks of abx" Halperin. NO ONE speaking for people with chronic Lyme and co-infections. I can't figure out how to contact the show. Help!

I had to select Other for show. I asked that they look into what Katie Couric did to inform the public that not all cases are like the women they had on. There are a lot of chronic cases that are not going to go away with 4 weeks of abx.

I watched this, and had a few thoughts. 1st: Here comes the vaccine! Quite the marketing.
Bits from the woman who 'had' Lyme- she didn't get to tell her exact timeline, but, first Lyme test negative,
then Bells Palsy (like a stroke, face slid to side) double vision (one eye paralyzed) makes me want to get the vaccine, so graphic!
She lands in the hospital, they figure out Lyme- She must have gotten IV antibiotics there. Now she's fine (out of hospital)
I admit, I'm actually jealous. No seemingly co- infections, IV in the hospital covered by insurance, back to life. Sounds like it all hit fast and right away.
Yep, I am jealous. Much like a stage 4 cancer patient is of the stage 1 patient who just has to have a little laser, I suppose.

And it makes me wonder how long it'll be before she presents with arthritis, or some other chronic inflammatory condition (read: chronic Lyme symptoms) misdiagnosed and then prescribed immune suppressants...yadda yadda yadda...

I saw it too, I was like, man...if I were only so lucky. I have a friend just dx'ed, lots of symptoms. Didn't herx, and is now fine.
What about us? The 20% that don't get better? Well, I'm getting better but it's taken 3 freaking years!

Surprise I think you are exactly right. It was a commercial for the vaccine. I only hope that people find out how the vaccine permanently debilitated a lot of the people who took it.

I think it said it said it took 3 days for her to be diagnosed. That really blew my mind. I know there are many others like hubby who were hospitalized multiple times and the docs sure didn't figure out or believe it was lyme or tick related in 3 days.

Is it strange that she developed such severe symptoms right away? Do people run to the hospital with early Lyme? This really sounds fishy.

Cockapoo -- A certain small percentage of patients do have an almost immediate acute illness from lyme with symptoms developing within a few days of the tickbite.
Just the same way that all the journal articles about babesia describe acute symptoms in patients and never discuss chronic babesia unless you have Aids or another reason for severe immune suppression. In the beginning they thought only patients without a spleen could have an active babesia infection -- they thought everyone else had a mild self limited infection just like the common cold or the flu that the body could fight off on its own without treatment.

So if you get very sick right away are you healthier or do you have a weaker immune system? Or maybe different strains/co-infections? Too much we don't know and the CDC doesn't seem to care.

At our support meeting the last 6 months....new people are reporting a tick bite, bulls eye rash and neurological and chronic lyme sx within days of the bite.
I've been wondering what in the world is making it hit so hard and quickly. These people were questioned too about prior health and they had no arthritis, fatigue, pain etc to suggest they had TBD prior to known bite.

NBC is the problem here. I remember hearing about a top executive's wife who got lyme and needed yrs of IV and he wanted to run a Dateline story on chronic lyme. He stepped down because they refused.
Since there is nothing legally that can be done,I can only hope this guy Halperin gets a terrible cancer of some sort that he dies slowly, painfully.
