Apparently lyme is a female disease.

Or do men just not like having their pictures taken and put on the internet in a sickness context?

rather odd, ain't it.. it maybe hard for a man to share - hey, look at me sick and weak.. something I never thought I would be ?

I'm vocal, show my face, and I'm male. But I've talked to soooo many guys who are going through this hell who'd rather not be seen.

It's massively ego deflating for a guy show/admit weakness.

Droid, trust.......it is massively ego deflating for a WOMAN to show/admit weakness too. At least for me.

My former co-workers and extended family still don't know how sick I am. Guess it's my last shred of dignity hanging on......

Not a diss, just reality. At least for me.

I saw quite a few men on there.

I never wanted to admit I was going down with something mysterious, and I'm female - I think it's something to do with having an "I can handle things" attitude.

Having Lyme is not a "weakness", nor is speaking about Lyme or any chronic medical condition a sign of weakness. Actually, it takes a lot of courage to speak openly.

Interesting observation though.....

Thanks for the info.

I put my 2c into it:

"Got bit in 1995 & I had symptoms for years, but there was just no way I could tell it was Lyme. Simply IMPOSSIBLE to tell with just constant headaches & chronic tiredness. Over the years more odd symptoms, until one day I needed antibiotics.

So many of my family members have been bit & when I started to ask questions I was in complete shock as to how many people around me have it. The CDC admits they were wrong about their 30,000 new Lyme cases & they now believe it to be more like 300,000.

It would be impossible for me to come across this many people who have it if the numbers were that low, they are wrong yet. It is in the millions!!!!

All those people who go around carrying it in their bodies & there is just no way for them to know it. It is sickening and complete absurdity that the medical & scientific community discredit those suffering. Just look at what you have done; you have gone against your own species.

The bacteria(s) are one of the simplest form of life, but it is a disgrace that they can work together so harmoniously to overtake our immune system, yet the people in charge of humanities well being walk around like bumbling idiots. It is a shame!"

Lymedin2010, well said, and I total agree with everything you said.

300,000 is a made-up number, just like the 30,000...It's all political as we all know.

I remember growing up as a kid, always playing in the (woods, climbing trees, playing in big mounds of leaves, playing and sitting in the grass, so-on and so-on).

Every time I see kids doing anyone of these activities today all I can think about is - here comes another Lyme disease patient, and being sick the rest of their life’s.

I don't even let my dogs walk or play in grass. After getting sick I enlarged my deck, that’s the only place my dogs can go. I can't take a chance on them getting a tick on them and then bring it into the house to infect other, what a sin.

Everything that comes natural is now restricted from our lives.

These diseases are going to get much worse before getting better. I feel so bad for kids and adults that refuse to educate themselves.

The parents have a choose, but the kids don't. If parents don't educate themselves and except what the risks are; then there kids will continue to get sick.

Wow, this thread is like a 12 step program.

"Hi. My name is SouthPaw, and I'm a male Lyme-a-holic"

honestly mainstream medicine,CDC NIH are not idiots they are profiting from people being sick and staying that way

No reason for them to treat Lyme!

They make more money treating for arthritis and replacing joints, fibromyalgia, migraines, celiac disease, MS, heart disease ..... these are all big business now!
