Can a LLMD treat RMSF?

A good llmd should be able to treat any tick-borne disease or co-infection.

If you think you are infected with RMSF, you should be seen asap. It can kill you quickly.

Even the family mds in my state tx it right away. People die here every year from it.

Thank you, I was diagnosed May 2013 and was treated for the last year with doxycycline and another antibiotic. Last blood work came back inactive. I am still plagued with profound pain and soreness along with my eyesight is very blurry more days than not. Looking for a doctor who can help me with the residual effects.

Did you check in 'Seeking a Doctor' here on lymenet?

Illinois is a big state. You could be able to go to someone in WI, or MI, or MO or IA. Don't rule out the neighboring states.

Go to Support Groups in the menu on the upper left of this page and you will find some people in your state you can contact. They will know about doctors.
All the best,
Ann - OH

Sure, any LLMD can treat for any tick-borne illness. They are finding that RMSF can become chronic, just like Lyme. Both need to be treated.

It is rare to get only ONE illness from a tick, so you likely have more than "just" RMSF.

You have a very good LLMD in your state and a very good one in MO. If you haven't posted in Seeking a Doctor, please do so. We will help you find a Dr!! [Smile]

Moving this to Medical Questions for more help.
