"Dr. Steere is again misrepresenting research. There is ample research supporting ongoing treatable infection, and no research supporting post treatment Lyme disease syndrome, a name he simply made up to support his own dogma.
He states tests are reliable, yet he fails to recognize the well published failings of the tests and their complete inability to detect many strains and species of the Lyme bacteria.
Only Steere see's arthritis in abundance in late Lyme, most do not see it anywhere near as common.
Steere still reports the significance of the over-stated, imprinted rash that research now shows occurs in fewer than 20% of cases, while some Borrelia strains will cause no rash at all.
He speaks as though all mainstream medicine agrees with him and only advocacy groups don't. That is not the case at all.
Health Canada published a warning that the current testing model he refers to as accurate, is not accurate at all as it is incapable of detecting the diversity of Borrelia known to occur and cause human disease. Dr. Steere continues to sway to only his own drum on this serious matter.
He says he has had to hire protection as though the advocacy groups are just wild zealots.
Advocacy groups are microbiologists, immunologists, epidemiologists, infectious disease doctors, family practitioners, rheumatologists, lawyers, truckers, tree fallers, geneticists, farmers, firemen/women, policemen/women, senators, congressmen/women and we have to be protected from the Steere's of this world.
Thank heavens the law-makers in several states looked beyond the Steere et al, narrow definition of what he wants to call Lyme Disease, and wised up to the nonsense of the Infectious Disease Society of America.
As real scientists step up to the plate, the pseudo self-proclaimed scientists like Steere and the IDSA gang are getting pushed aside."

What makes me mad is the media keep dragging him out, propping him up and proclaiming him the Lyme King. When really he is a big fraud. Shame on the media for perpetuating this.

He probably only sees arthritis in abundance because he was a professor of rheumatology and that is his specialty.
The money is in arthritis. lol
