Congratulations to the State of Vermont! Signed into law, Healthcare Bill H123, addressing the treatment of Lyme and the protection of practitioners will take effect July 1, 2014.
Dr. Stram helped draft Bill 123 that will be law starting July 1, 2014 in the State of Vermont, which allows a licensed physician to prescribe, administer or dispense long-term antibiotic therapy for the purpose of eliminating or controlling a patient's Lyme disease or other tick-borne illness and recognizes the guidance for treatment by ILADS.
In the bill, ILADS is recognized as the organization committed to research and treatment of Lyme Disease and as such, an invaluable resource for education, research and clinical guidance. Also instituted was the protection of physicians and physician extenders acting in the best interest of their patients while they adhere to the guidelines presented by ILADS, CDC, or IDSA.
