My dog Emma was 10 years old, and was one of the best pets I have had in my life. She was a shetland sheep dog (sheltie), one of the smartest, sweetest dogs, she will be dearly missed.
Living in my house the last few years we had a mold problem, that my dog was having hot spots, always chewing at her feet. After we moved out she got better, all hot spots were gone and she got a healthy appetite back.
Two months after we moved out, I took her to the vet and they told me she had a tumor in her head, growing down into her mouth, that there was no hope.
I have to wonder, was it my house that caused this to develop. Her immune system compromised by the mold the last few years.
I wish we knew these answers, so we could save so much pain and misery.
I will miss you Emma, good luck in your journey.

You did all that you could for that love bug! Never forget that!
I love shelties and any kind of collie. My husband had a collie growing up and we had a border collie many years ago.
I know your pain and offer my love to you.

So sorry for your loss. She must have been a very special dog. It is obvious that she was very loved. Don't burden yourself with the 'what ifs'. Tumors can be caused by so many factors, many of which are genetic. Posted by linky123 (Member # 19974) on :
So sorry to hear of your loss. We had our Buddy put to sleep a couple of weeks ago. It's really tough.

Thank you guys for all your support, its been a week now, and I still catch myself looking for her.
My son dropped a few chips on the floor, and I told him to pick them up. He started crying, and turned and said to me. "Its because we don't have Emma anymore." She would have been right at his feet waiting for that crumb of food to hit the floor.

We are going through the same thing. I dropped some chips on the floor yesterday and thought, "our Buddy would have been over here in a New York minute cleaning that up."
I even miss vacuuming every day. He shed like crazy!
