They just dont seem to get it. Two live way south near ocean where it hardly snows and the other is in city with public transportation
Im not clear why....one thinks every car should get 100 miles a gallon or im wrecking the envirinment...i think the others think little old ladies with canes shouldnt drive trucks
But i say since i cant depend on my legs to walk me out of a priblem i need a vehicle that wont get stuck
I did have a subaru outback once that i loved and i still say it was s the best car i ever had...it went up steep hills in ice
And i wouldnt mind a little impreza for driving around town but there is no subaru that can pull my camper so if i am going to have one car i think it should be a 4 wd truck
I prefer a "small" truck like tacoma or frontier...but this old silverado gets the job done and costs 200 amonth as opposed to 500-600 a month
I never could have fixed house last year if i didnt trade down to the old truck...in a few years when im rich maybe i ll get a newer smaller truck
But theres nothing wrong with an old lady druving a truck is there? I really think it just makes me safer and more independent. At this point i go about 500 miles a month so im not polluting all that much
Anyway...my new years vent.

LOL....i kind of am thinking that a truck is what i need too..but not sure how tha twould work wtih a power chair..i know they have lifts you can put in the bed of the truck but there is a weight limit of $300 pounds.
Not sure how much power chairs weigh.
I am always mindboggled why othes feel that they know better than you do on what choices you should be making???
I also do not quite know how to respond so most of the time dont' say anything.
I think a truck is a good choice. Posted by hiker53 (Member # 6046) on :
I say get whatever kind of car/truck you want. You are the one driving it--not your kids.
My good friend picked me up in a big ol' black pickup for dinner last week and she is a hospital administrator who logs a lot of miles. But the truck is what she likes.

They're better for hauling stuff too. Now you don't have have to hire someone to transport items and be paying for 2 vehicles.
Wish we had a truck. We're always needing help hauling stuff.
"one thinks every car should get 100 miles a gallon or im wrecking the envirinment"
All those batteries in the Prius's are going to be an environmental nightmare and the toxic glues they use in the interior make me ill (I can't be in a Prius without getting an asthma attack).
It's all about being taken in by advertising. It's when doing the supposed "right thing" overrides logic.

Well, as long as your kids aren't there to pull you out of the snowbank, I don't think they have a lot of room to talk.
Go ahead and drive your truck with pride and don't worry about them.

Yes linky...that is a big part of it. I have friends helping in real emergencies and i dont want to be stupud and end up over using them

Shame on them for criticizing their mother's choices...I drive a truck and have for years...I NEED it and it is a blessing to me...sounds like yours is the same for you.

It's good to hear that you do have some folks up there to help you if you need it.

You should drive whatever you want! Your life, your money, your choice. Drive with pride and in good health!

are they offering to buy you something new?!?!?!
if so, maybe I would take it. if not just smile and change the subject.
why do people worry about the darndest things?

Ha,there is nothing like a pickup truck.I have 3 of them. And a stupid KIA sportage.
The sportage is my winter car,it is a 4x4,it is killer in the snow,it is a lead slead on ice. I use it to save my other trucks it keeps them out of the (SALT)!
One giant Dodge diesel 4x4 will pull a house.
A Nissan D21 MPG truck I installed a Chevette diesel in it. 38 MPG on a flat road with no head wind.
I kept my old chevy 1968 C10 stepside. It is now a rat rod,had it since i was 25. It is mat black. It has historical plates.
YEP there ain't nothing like a pickup truck.

Tell them to "get over it."

I always wanted a pick up truck! Tell them you are going to trade it in for a Porsche - zoom, zoom, zoom....Maybe that will change their opinion!
Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
Remind them how FEW miles you actually drive. It's not going to kill the environment.
Sheesh.

hey ip dear....I have a gmc dullie....
can't get any bigger than that. tell them to look at texas....lol

Trucks are a dime a dozen in Texas. Nearly every household has at least ONE!

Omg maddog you got me laughing. Dog thinks im nuts.
Actually i would trade it for an impreza hatch back if i could...and then try to find an older taco or frontier to pull the camper
But i need a house first. A mold free, critter free house.

I love my trucks. I have a Nissan Titan and I would't drive anything else but a truck. So much safer then a small car.
Pulse it hauls our 4 big dogs.
Each to his own but I'm a truck girl too
