Looking for a new LLMD. Wondering what types of questions I should be asking when selecting a new doctor.

- Did they complete the ILADS physician training program and do they keep up with ILADS conferences, etc.
In Oregon, there is no MD who is ILADS educated much less willing or able to address lyme. [Which is why you likely saw the doctor across the state boundary to the north who has just closed his practice.]
There are, however a couple of ILADS educated LL NDs (naturopathic doctors) who are excellent. In Oregon, NDs can also prescribe Rx as well as naturopathic formulas.
The Oregon Medical Board is exceptionally harsh regarding lyme and that is just part of why there are no LLMDs in the state. Understanding of the politics of lyme, not just in the U.S. but particular to Oregon is vital. Be sure to connect with the Oregon Lyme Network. -

The Kaiser Papers – not by or from Kaiser Insurance but for background regarding lack of lyme assessment / treatment in general, regardless of one’s insurance coverage. -

- In addition to the Portland support group, as you have a child with lyme, I'd call the leader of the state group in Bend as she also had a child with lyme who went through complex treatment and is now a healthy young adult.
While they went out of state for treatment, she is still the most up to date on what's going on in the state. The most brilliant and kind person I've ever met.
you'll find the number in the link above. -

Keebler, you wouldn't happen to know the most "Lyme-friendly " states?

There are around 7 or 8 states that have passed legislation protecting Lyme-treating doctors for treating Lyme/co patients longterm. The rest need to pass protective legislation!
