How is your weather,and is it calming or worsening ?Here it is 66 degrees, windy, windy, stuff blowing around in the driveway with showers likely to spit and sputter all day.
The low tonight will be 40 degrees,tomorrows high will be 40 degrees with a low of 30... much much to chilly for here [Las Vegas NV]. Yipes!
Hope we do not lose power which can happen here in High winds. We'll have to check the outdoor Christmas lights,when it calms down some.I do hope the snow stays up in the mountains and doesn't come here.
Couple areas here,had a thick frost they were calling snow last year. But nothing like, Idaho/Montana Blizzards or the Dakotas.
Hows the weather out your way? Please try to stay safe,dry and warm.We are hearing scary reports from some areas.

We got a small amount of snow the other day. Kids loved playing in it. It is very cold, but is suppose to warm up this weekend. HOPEFULLY.

It's been cold in SW Missouri, but not that bad .. YET. It will be in the single digits Saturday night with predicted snow.
I don't mind, except that we always leave for church around 7:30 a.m. If it's icy, I refuse to go and hubby will have to go by himself. He's the musical director, so he has to be there if church is held.
I'm praying for a safe outcome! We live on top of a hill and cars HAVE slid all the way to the bottom before. It happens just about every year.

It is still High Winds Advisory here, and some of East Vegas is w/o power. We are okay so far, heat is functioning, and we still are blessed to have power.
Friends in Eugene, Springfield area of Oregon,have reported an ice storm freezing temps and no power for three days now. They've said there are trees down everywhere there.
I was born in Oregon, and winters like that are no fun.
When I was younger, I used to build snow bears,if the snow wasn't to dry. I did it a few times in Idaho when it wasn't to cold. But had to add a bit of water because it is a dryer snow.
But when it gets icy under the snow and packs down. That gets dangerous,and we just can't handle that much cold and snow anymore.
The cold isn't fun,here in Vegas either when it hits, but thank goodness it doesn't usually last very long.And it doesn't usually go below the 20's.
Y'all stay warm, and off the streets if you don't have to be out in bad weather.

Well, it's been really cold here. Each day I had to go out, I got frostbite on my fingers and toes. Unfortunately, that has happened ever since I was a kid. I have Raynaud's. Of course, I didn't know the name for it back then. No fun.
I wouldn't mind the cold so much if my body didn't react this way! Although, today was just miserably cold. I walked too long in it, so I was done in by the time I got home.
I have yet to find a way to avoid the frostbite, no matter what i try. I haven't tried those plug in gloves though.
Snow bears . . . I never heard of that! Sounds neat! It reminds me of when we were kids making snow forts, snow men, and, of course, angels----they were the best.

Rumi... I have Raynaud's too. I get panicky in ice storms. I'm always afraid we will lose power. So far, so good on that.

It was (1 degrees) yesterday, and (25 below 0) with the wind factor. At least it's about 20 degrees today
We had a few in. of snow last week - and at least 6 or 7in. today.

Steve's Pic pretty much sums up our weather here.
Very windy and temps are dropping like a rock. Supposed to get to MINUS 15 to 20 yet today and tonight
with enough wind to get to minus 40-50 below wind chill.
Reminds me I need to go scoop some snow. What I wish I had was a small portable snow blower.
Years ago they called them snow pups. Pushed straight away in shallow snow and swing it like a scoop in deep snow.
has to be small enough to pick up by me, myself, and I and put in a suv back hatch to move to multiple locales.
Saw shoppers out this morning when it was snowing hard,complete white out, pushing a cart with cheese puffs and a quart of milk.
Have to be pretty nuts to go out in bad weather to go shop for junk!!!
Oh streets were a sheet of ice cause it rained as it was beginning to snow yesterday. With drifts of unknown depth with it dark as the sun wasnt up yet.
People are nuts to not be home and content to veg.
Last night in the ice and snow there were tons of people out at our store buying a battery for their car at the last moment,,,
"cant you put it in for me in the dark and cold and snow and ice???""I will wait inside where its warm!!!" GRR
or they need a blinker bulb installed,,,or a headlight bulb. Sometimes you have to show people where to put the washer fluid.

Thanks for checking in, and/or checking back in, I had a SIL with Raynauds,not pleasant, y'all with this issue,please use extra precautions as much as possible.
Florida sounds good right now HW',even here in Vegas it's supposed to be down to 30 degrees again,way too cold if one is used to 85 to 100 degrees plus.
Steve, the pic's are beautiful,thanks for posting them! But I have to agree with Tinny, cold and snow, and hail and sleet too,should be illegal.
Well one exception would be in high Mountain regions,for the water tables,and at the poles. Other than that snow is a bad bad word. And ice isn't much better unless it's for keeping your tea, or lemonade etc. cold!!!
Again,please stay as safe as possible in this weather. Snow and ice can affect so very many things, most importantly people, pets,and wildlife.
The pics' I saw of Oregon's snow and ice storms,and Silver-thaws are beautiful,they can also be deadly. One can fall,it seems before even realizing it...'til you bounce off the ground or steps. never a good thing.

Last night we had snow in the middle of the night, 4" or so. It was gorgeous from the inside! There was hardly anyone out and no snow plows, so it was unspoiled.
But it turned to a freezing rain in the am, so it became a slushy, mushy mess. I stayed in. But my husband, trusty scout that he is, went out to 2 farmers' markets getting food for us.
Actually, I LOVE snow! Of course, I'm not talking about having to shovel and scrape ice off your windshield. And I find winter fun sometimes, that is, when you can do fun things in it, like skate or sled, or ski, which I haven't been able to do in eons. But even walking in the snow, I love.
But the Raynaud's is another darned story. And the really bitter cold---awful! And this week it was bitterly cold and windy. Very tough on Raynaud's.

I used to live near some woods I could tromp in when it snowed. I could walk right up the road and take photos to my heart's content.
Now it is not possible. We have woods behind us, but a parking lot and a chopped off hill in between. Then a huge drop-off from the balcony in the back. We live on top of a very steep hill.
I'm PRAYING that our church will be canceled...but you never know. Right now it is sleeting and I think there's a bit of ice underneath. Then we will be getting snow for awhile.
I prefer for it to snow during the DAY so I can watch it! The good news is that we shouldn't get more than an inch or two. The bad news is that it will be about 8-9 degrees tonight.
Don... you are right .. people are complete idiots!! I imagine dealing with them every single day must make you crazy. Oh wait, you were already crazy!!

It's 44 degrees here down to 30 or 31 degrees again tonight. Nothing like Some areas of Idaho, where we actually saw 20 below during a 'Siberian Express' storm system. I did not like it at all!!

And Rumigirl, I know what you mean about snow, it is beautiful,but I can't stand the cold now.
Watch that ice build up ,all of you please! Falls are very painful,and ice seems to make it 10x's worse.
I mentioned snow bears, they are similar to a snowman but you add rounded dented snow balls on the head[a niced size snowball] for the ears. And a good slightly larger snowball tapered somewhat for the muzzle/nose area.
Then you add stubby arms/legs up top,and attach them across chest ,however they'll stick. I used to curve them from just below the head/neck area.
Then at the bottom largest snowball you add the lower legs sticking out for balance. And if you aren't totally frozen yourself, maybe a little half snowball, on the backside at ground level for a little tail.
I love pictures of things like that, but I stay out of cold weather when possible now.
I did try to make a Snow-rooster once, but for his tail and Comb I had to use some dried up fern fronds. So he was sorta pale and neutral colored. LOL!

One of the kids in our church loves to sculpture. She said she made a duck out of snow a few years ago! She's only 11 or 12.
I saw a cute snowman on Facebook that was upside down. It would be very easy to do!
I can no longer build snowmen. The last one I made was about 18 yrs ago. It was cute .. short .. since my hands were killing me. I put my dad's old hat on him.

Bet you haven't had to kayak around in your home! I used to go canoeing on the Russian River with my scout trip when I was young. It's named that because Russians settled there for some time.
Yeah, the area is drying out in good weather, but these poor folks have to deal with the aftermath.

As fun as snow sculpture was, not something I could do anymore.
The flood pics' with the canoes and kayaks, reminds me of the flooding in Plaquemines Parish Louisiana.
One Mothers' Day,we were awakened early by a lot of sloshing water,and Pastor climbing on the porch from his Pirogue, barely a step our other four steps were covered with water.
It was an odd day,and of course they cancelled cause most areas you couldn't get out w/o a boat.
I hope it all calms down soon,and therre are no injuries.
