My 2 yr old son was bit by a tick yesterday in a NY area that has ticks found with Lyme and babesis microti.

He had a red reaction above and below the tick onto his neck that went away after the tick was removed. It was on there for possibly close to 24 hrs

He's not feverish or acting sick

I've never seen a red reaction like that. Do you have a opinion of why it would react like that?

You can print out a one-page document (right from the main page there) with the tick bite treatment recommendations used world wide.

One protocol is for children and one is for adults.

Again, if this was my little one, knowing what I do, getting him treated would be a definite plan, and ASAP.

The "wait and see" method sucks! That allows the bacteria to disseminate through the body.

It is like sitting there waiting for the kitchen to flood clear up to the ceiling before turning off the kitchen sink faucet.

BTW- Less than 10% of children get a Lyme related rash. If you have a Lyme related rash you have Lyme.

Many years ago my son had an oval red rash (not a bulls'-eye) on his thigh with many mosquito bites (no ticks). It took six years just to find out what was wrong with him! Turns out that rash was a form of the bull's-eye.

Your dear son needs to be evaluated a.s.a.p by a Lyme-literate doctor (LLMD). Non LLMDs have no clue about this horrible disease or its complex treatment!

A LLMD is one who has treated Lyme disease and the co-infections which come with it for many years and has gotten patients well. A good one will follow Dr. B's Guidelines, the "gold standard" for Lyme treatment.

LLMDs are far and few between, unfortunately. He needs to go where they are.

Also, most LLMDs do not accept insurance due to the politics surrounding this horrible disease. Read poster TF's explanation, "Why Lyme Doctors Don't Take Insurance":

I did bring him to the doctor this evening. I was sent away told to wait and see. I showed her the pic, told her it was about 24 hrs abd said he was fatigued today. Wants a fever chills achiness etc before amid.

unfortunately with a two yr old the only solid measure is a fever. Everything else is hard to say considering he doesn't speak clear sentences. Uh

Call the LLMDs I sent you and get him in to whichever one can take him first (call every day if you have to!).
